I had trouble finding a hooded light system for my 5.5 gallon tank that wasn't going to be a cheap product with weak lighting, and i didn't want to have to just get a clear cover and then set a light over it. This hood works perfectly for what i wanted. The lighting is great, and makes the tank look awesome. the switch is covered so it doesn't get wet and the light instantly comes on when you flip it. Also doesn't get very hot when left on for several hours.The only complaint is that it could fit slightly better, it sits right on top of the black frame of my 16X8 tank instead of sitting inside the lip but it works very nicely, confidant no fish will jump out and it keeps the water from evaporating so quickly. I did quite a bit of looking around, and although you can find another hooded light system for cheaper, I would recommend spending the bit extra for this system!
