I got this wheel for pet mice and they love it. Unlike traditional wheels, there is no danger of trapped tails or feet and to top if off, this wheel is completely silent! It does gather grime on the surface faster than open wheels, but it is easy to clean just soak it in hot water for a few minutes and it comes right off. Overall I would say this is a much better exercise option for small animals, and it's also more fun to watch them on this.

I ordered this item in both the small and large size to see which worked better. My mice used both but the larger size can accomodate several at once, so I recommend getting the large if you have a group living together.

I bought this toy for use by a few Syrian hamsters, as it was the size the company suggests for these animals. However, it is way too small for them, and they can't really run on it comfortably, unless you want them to twist themselves and step on their own feet. It might be fine for a dwarf hamster, but nothing larger.

I ended up buying a Large one -recommended for chinchillas -and that worked out a little bit better. It's a bit too large for Syrian hamsters, but it definitely works better than the Medium one. Ideally, there should be something a little smaller than Large, but definitely larger than Medium.

I think this is more of an entertainment novelty for HUMANS. I have this wheel and a traditional wheel available in my hamsters cage and she prefers the traditional wheel, but I do see her running on this wheel every now and then. Its definitly way more quieter than the traditional wheel though.

Our hamster has both the classic wheel and the Medium Saucer. He's a big hamster, and it looks too small for him, but you would need a huge cage to put the big Saucer in, so the medium was about as big as I could go. The hamster sorta bends a little sideways while he's running on the saucer, so I'm not sure that's so comfortable on his spine... not sure. He'll go between both the saucer and the classic wheel, but he seems to prefer the classic wheel.

My chubby mice are looking more slim and fit thanks to this wheel. They use it more than they used to use their old-school metal wheel. I've found no issues with needing to clean it constantly and it is perfectly silent EXCEPT that my mice push it around (or it moves while they use it) to the point where it is bumping up against the glass of the fish tank while they run on it. When that happens you get a thump, thump, thump sound as they go around. A more weighted base would have been great.

UPDATE! Mice mice loved this thing until it broke two weeks after having bought it. Now my mice are getting fat and depressed. Might have to go back to the metal squeaky wheel.
