The filter is large and takes up about 15-20% of the tank, so the one of the bettas is more cramped than the other (I will eventually upgrade the filter). Also, when the filter was on "high", it created too much current/water flow and it sucked up their food before they had a chance to eat it the "medium" setting seems to work fine.
**** Important *** If you need to use the divider, you have to be careful about moving/handling the tank a small amount of pressure on the tank distorts its shape enough to move the placement of the divider. This is an easy problem to fix you can see if the divider has moved out of its groove at the top and you can slide it back. But when I switched the filter from high to medium, I apparently handled the tank enough to move the divider out of place, so there was a small space in the front (the bow shape contributes to this problem)*** Here's the funny part, when I lowered the filter rate, I also switched the slightly larger betta to the side of tank without the filter and the smaller one to the filter side. The next morning they had switched themselves back! My husband was so freaked out he woke me up. We thought they had jumped to the other sides, but then we saw the blue Betta slip between the front of the tank and the divider to the other side. I panicked because I thought they were going to fight before I moved the one back, but they didn't. And when they switched sides, they had to have crossed paths, but they don't appear to have fought. If I didn't know better, I'd say they've gotten downright chummy. So just check the divider when you clean or move the tank.

I have 3 zebra danos and some live plants in my tank, and have had it set-up since June 2007. I removed the filter it came with since it took up 1/5 of the aquarium space, but if you have fish that love to poo, you might want to leave it in there. Instead I use a Red Sea nano filter (with another manufacturer's carbon filter) and it keeps the tank sparkling.Change the water once a week (about half of it) and don't over feed your fishies and the tank will be perfect. My main issue is this that is comes with a filter that is too big for the tank and the hood will not go on properly. Any sort of of fish that jumps could be in danger in this tank due to a small opening in the back. I've only had this tank for a few weeks but I definately will buy a new, smaller filter soon, other wise the fish I keep in there are fine and the tank is adequate for a few small fish.I bought this aquarium for my betta and I just love it. It is very cute, and the light provides the perfect temperature 76 degrees of water. My betta really loves it too. I've never seen him so active! He has the perfect amount of space in the right temperature water, and the filter is quiet and works very well. My only complaint is that the top of the aquarium (lid) is not the best quality. It also says it's suitable for two betta fish, with a divider that you can use to separate them. However, split in two, the space is very limited for the fish to swim, so really this is a one-betta tank. Don't get it for two bettas. I do recommend it though. Super low maintenance, great price, and your betta or other fish will be very happy!
