I bought it to put in a split 20 gallon, though ended up putting it in a 5 gallon tank. It fits well in a 5 gallon, and it still has space for another item of the same size, or a maybe two smaller before it gets crowded. It looked good in the 20 gallon as well and would be a good item to put in with some others, I just ended up using a different theme for the 20 gallon.

I have some corys in with a betta in the 20, and they liked swimming around it, going behind the Trident. Now it's in with a different betta and some ghost shrimp. The shrimp jump on it sometimes.

The crown and Trident are not sharp, so I don't think there will be many fish that have problems with fins ripping on any of it. My halfmoon betta can swim behind the Trident without a problem, though I could see a larger fish trying to swim through that area and getting stuck. The Trident is a bit bendable, so if a fish were to get stuck, you could bend it a little to get it out, but not so bendable that it would get out of shape.

The item is true to the picture. I'd say he might be a little darker in person, though with the tank light shining on him it is basically the same. The crown is done with a gold paint that shines nicely. It is a solid item, made nicely and the Trident doesn't look like it would easily break in shipping no matter how banged around the box got.

Aquatop NP-302 Aquarium Submersible Pump

Aquatop NP-302 Aquarium Submersible PumpWonderful little pump with a lot of power for its size. I bought to replace the air pump that came with my "HB-210: Finnex External HOB Refugium / Breeder Box + Air Pump" and this worked great. I have this pumping into the refuge and I have to turn it down slightly as if I turn it up full it tends to leak over the edge and into the tank from the side rather than the correct exit but that is also as I have about 10 lbs of live sand and rock rubble as well as each chamber is full of macro algae. I feel it had made a great little refuge on my 20 gallon nano tank and works superb for us as we cannot put a sump on this tank. One down side is sometimes the suction cups come off the tank but that could either be something I have in the tank or I have red slime algae blooms sometimes that could be causing this. Also very easy to clean, has worked perfect for about 2.5 months now with being run 24/7.

Works great in my homemade sous vide! It has ample volume, compact size, and, does't seem to be affected by the warmer water. Just keep the filter clean!

I bought this pump for a replacement to my original water pump that was in my " Fantasy Fountain". ( for those of you that don't know what a Fantasy Fountain is, get your mind out of the gutter-it's not what you're thinking. It's a watering can with a clear tube that connects to a spigot and it appears that the spigot is "floating" in the air. The water is pumped up through the clear tube, and cascades down the outside of the clear tubing from the spigot, thus making it appear as though the faucet is turned on and filling up the watering can do a web search if this is confusing, They're really cool.) Anyhoo.... this pump is better than the original! It seems to have more power than the original one did, and it runs super quiet, so the only thing you hear is the water "running" and not the sound of the pump. You have to be careful that it stays fully immersed, as you do with any submersible water pump, or the motor will burn out, so just check your water levels periodically, and you'll be fine. Highly recommend this little guy -you won't be disappointed!

I had to use silicone RTV glue to make my tubing fit, but I'm an engineer so it wasnt that hard, I was just hoping I could attach the fittings and be done. The flow valve works well but the suction cup feet sucks too hard and the glass pulls them off.

I bought this for a little swamp cooler project and it's been working just as advertised. I'll be buying another for a small fountain project. For the money I can't imagine a better option.

Coralife Aqualight High Output T5 Aquarium Lighting Fixture, 2X20W, 20 inchThe light came to me well packed by seller..after support foam for bulbs was removed just plug in!! My corals love this light! They hated the led from marinelife i was using.. Too harsh?no ac blue... This light also has a covered switch so salt cant get to it... Only 1issue... Use better screws(brass maybe) so they dont strip out with removal and replacement..definately a lite to look at for low-med light corals and high if you have closer to surface....

Kordon/Oasis (Novalek) AKD33456 Amquel Plus for Aquarium, 16-Ounce

Kordon/Oasis AKD33456 Amquel Plus for Aquarium, 16-OunceWhen I first started keeping goldfish, I mysteriously lost several fish. I know now I was making all kinds of mistakes common to amateurs. One mistake I made was to assume that all water treatments that claimed to make tap water safe would do the trick. After several of my kiddos died, I asked for help from the owner of my local pet store. This is not a Petco or a Petsmart, but a real mom-and-pop place. The owners really care about their animals.

The store owner told me that years ago when he was first starting out, his fish kept dying. He had a water sample tested independently, and the tester advised him that our local tap water was the second worst water sample he had ever tested. The pet store owner advised me to use Amquel Plus along with NovAqua. Since I have been using these products, I have lost no fish. Since moving to a different place (one with better water quality, I am happy to report), I have continued to use these products as they have been perfectly effective and reliable.

I've had fish tanks all my life, but got more serious about it in the past 8 years. I stumbled upon a great forum, and most of them recommended this product. I took a leap, and have been using it for the past 6 years.

Pros:

Seems to do a great job treating water it's a thankless job, but something has to do it.

Cons:

Smells bad (could be a pro for pranks?) but the smell is gone once you add the water.

I typically measure out the right amount, then dump it in the bottom of a 5 gallon water jug. I fill the jug, then use that to fill the tank. It's worked out great for me, both in planted and non-planted freshwater tanks. This one bottle should last you a while unless you have a huge (100g+) tank.

I had purchased this product from a local store in the past for my fresh water tank and have never had any problems using it. I was surprised to read some had the opposite opinion. Well, I went ahead and still purchased it here on Amazon and received the package promptly. I've used it several times and my fish seem just fine. I have nothing negative to say about my purchase.

I've used Many types of water conditioners, ammonia, chlorine & heavy metal removers but nothing compares to this product. Works fast and you don't have to worry about using too muchI LOVE this product.

I purchased this item mainly to remove nitrate and nitrite. By testing it with a test kit, it doesn't do anything as it claims on the bottle. It probably does what it claims, but nothing that would cause a change on the after test. Oh, I also doubled the dosage, NOTHING.

It could be a great water conditioner, since after all those years of being in the business. But if it doesn't do what it claims, its a big fail to me.

Exo Terra Turtle Bank Magnetic Floating Island

Exo Terra Turtle Bank Magnetic Floating Island, SmallThis floating island is aesthetic and is made of good quality material. The magnets are strong and will adjust to the water level, since the magnets stick from the exterior of the tank, you don't have to worry about your turtles being unable to reach the rock when the water level decreases.

My turtles love the different height levels on the rock. I would highly recommend this product.

My small slider loves this dock. The magnets are strong enough on my 10 gallon tank and even worked on a bowed plastic tank with a two inch gap of air between the plastic and the dock. I love being able to adjust the position of the dock without putting my hands in the tank by simply sliding the magnets around the glass. I plan on purchasing this dock again, perhaps in a larger size as my turtle grows.

It looks nice and realistic, but the magnets seems not to be enough to keep it in place :-/ otherwise I would give more stars****

My turtle is about 7-8 inches long and he appears to be too heavy. The rock is big enough to hold him, but when he gets on it, the magnets that hold it to the glass pop off and he and the rock float away. I hope turtles can't develop self-esteem issues.

I bought the medium size one of these when my two red nosed sliders were babies. There was plenty of room and worked amazing. Plus the magnets work incredible, especially compared to the docs that have suction cups (which I have used and hated). The only thing I would suggest to those that buy this product is that if you have two turtles you should probably just go ahead and buy the large one instead of the medium one. If you only have one turtle then the medium one is probably fine.

Glofish 5-Pound Aquarium Gravel Bag, Solid Black

Glofish 5-Pound Aquarium Gravel Bag, Solid BlackI ordered this item twice, and both times the bags came ripped and the rocks were all over the place. Also some of the rocks show white spots and it wouldn't be noticable if I I used normal lights. But I use blue florescent lights for my glofish and the lights highlight the white spots on the rocks. I would recomend buying there in the store because they at least they won't come damaged. I ended up having to pick out all of the bad rocks from the tank, they look good.

They are usable and look good in a boys room. Found them cheaper at Pet Smart. You can also buy a comparable item much cheaper.

Zoo Med Laboratories AZMBP20 Betta Plant Philo

Zoo Med Laboratories AZMBP20 Betta Plant PhiloI did a little research and found that Bettas like to rest on leaves....I did a little more searching and found that there are certain leaves and plants they like better than others. I was told that this one was a good product for the fish so I ordered it. I thought it would be a little bigger when it arrived, and it did have a funky smell. We cleaned it numerous times to rid it of the smell and stuck it in his tank. To this day he avoids it so we removed it. It's an okay fake plant, but I wouldn't buy it again. We went to the pet store in town and picked out a nice plant for him where he is resting happily each night.

AZOO Mignon Filter 60

AZOO Mignon Filter 60This is a great little filter for my 3 gal. tank with my betta Angelo. It is VERY quiet and the water stays SO clear. The flow can be controlled which is nice because betta do not like heavy flow. I would have given it 5 stars but the instructions are VERY vaugue and there is no number to call to ask questions. There is a little black knob that is part of the set up, it goes in the bottom of the filter to keep it stable. Other than that it is a great item for the money.

This is the perfect little filter for the Tetra Crescent Aquarium Kit, 3-Gallon. The tank kit came with a whisper internal filter and I didn't like how it took up so much space. So I got this and I have to say I am very happy. I would recommend AsianDude666 on youtube for the setup, that's where I got the idea about this filter. 110% Satisfied! =)

Wow, just got it today (Prime in 2 days). Waited to use it in a new tank, Tetra 3 gallon (didnt get it here). The Tetra tank came with a cheaply made in-tank 3i filter which I was already familiar with from my current 1 gallon tank. The AZOO definitely beats the Tetra filter hands down. Its like night and day. The flow is adjustable, great suction power despite it being very small. The 3 gallon tank top has cutouts that fits this filter perfectly. All you need is 3.5 inch clearance. Its whisper quiet.

The best part, though it comes with both a carbon sponge and filter sponge, the Tetra filter cartridge Tetra Whisper Bio-Bag Cartridge small, 2-Packfor the Tetra 3i filter fits perfectly into the AZOO diagonally. I'll try to post a few pictures.

Anyway, I went and got 2 more as back ups. Since its not a know brand like Tetra, it appears to be a Taiwanese brand, don't know how long it will be on Amazon.

Like other reviewers, this IS a great filter for small setups. I have 3, and use them when extracting fry, or various discoveries from either the 65 gal reef or 30 gal freshwater tanks. It should be noted that both tanks are equipped with Aqua Clear 110 filters, to which I add white felt pads cut to the size of the sponge).

To aid in filtration, I have created little mesh bags filled with charcoal. Additionally, approx. 4 pieces of ceramic containing healthy bacteria have been extracted from the main Aqua Clear filter and placed within the Zoo filter compartment. By adding the charcoal & ceramic to the Zoo filter you will greatly improve the over all performance of this great little devise.

Enjoy!

M.

Just set this filter up the other day on my 3 gallon Marineland Crescent. The filter hangs outside of the aquarium, so you'll need a few inches of space behind it. The intake is the only part of the filter that is inside the aquarium, so it doesn't take away swimming space. The filter is almost completely silent. The instructions are vague as another reviewer mentioned, but fortunately on youtube there is a video by AsianDude666 which demonstrates how to set the filter up, and he suggests getting Aquaclear foam and Biomax to use, as the sponges that come with the filter are skimpy. You can just cut the Aquaclear foam sponge to fit the filter. Both items were found cheap on valuepetsupplies.com. I set it up exactly like he did it, and it seems to work great. I have the flow set to the lowest setting and my betta is fine with it. For a couple weeks, I am taking turns running the Azoo and my original filter so the Azoo has time to collect beneficial bacteria. Then I will remove the enormous Tetra filter that came with this small aquarium, and my betta will have more space. And to clean the Azoo filter media, just take out the sponge and the biomax and rinse them in water from the tank to preserve your good bacteria.***Update 5/23/13 Make sure to use all the attachments that construct the tube. Don't make the mistake I made and fail to use the bottom extension piece of the tube. Without it, the opening is wide enough for a betta to get sucked into and killed, which is what happened to one of mine. So mad at myself for not noticing this preventable hazard. Each piece is included for a reason.***

***Ok another update 6/9/13...This should go without saying but make sure you clean the filter often, mine has developed gunk on the inside of the tube that I can't get out, the only way I might be able to reach in far enough is with a pipe cleaner. I wasn't cleaning it often enough. Cleaning it weekly would be good, but no less than every 2 weeks I would say.***

Aquatic Life 72-Watt Light Aquarium Light, 48-Inch, White/Blue/Purple

Aquatic Life 72-Watt Light Aquarium Light, 48-Inch, White/Blue/PurpleFirst off, I should note that the unit I received from Amazon was broken. Both the internal and external packing looked fine, but when unboxed the light, three of the LED "sockets" on one of the ends were broken off the entire plastic housing for the LED was cracked off the base plate. The LEDs in question still worked, they were just pointed askew.

Secondly, I picked up this unit in hopes that I might have found a replacement for my Finnex Ray2 Aquarium Day/Actinic LED Light, 48-Inch which had a bad habit of shocking me. Unfortunately, this unit produced far less light than the Finnex. If you'll notice, this unit only has 72 LEDs and as far as I could tell, they weren't the high-output LEDs either (the Finnex has around 380 HO LEDs). The color blend it produced was nice, but simply wasn't strong enough. On the plus side, where the Finnex's light is pretty concentrated, the lens domes on the Aquatic Life unit did allow for full coverage of my 12" wide tank (ie: light hit everywhere). Also, while I'm not sure what exactly caused the LEDs to break on my unit, the aluminum housing felt like a tank. The glass shield did feel a bit flimsy like glass you'd fine in a picture frame. It was also a bit loose fitting and rattled when moving the unit around.

All-in-all, I'd call the unit "ok" it'd probably do well enough in a fish-only tank with additional spot lighting. However, I don't believe it puts out enough light to sustain coral growth.

Tetra Half Moon Bubbler, 3-Gallon

Tetra Half Moon Bubbler, 3-GallonGiven what I paid and what this products comes with, I really can't complain too much. This product is a good deal, but is not for someone who wants a good quality tank and is willing to pay extra for it (since I am using for a single Betta, I did not want to spend a ton). I bought this product locally and I quickly looked inside the box to make sure everything look untouched and brought it home. I should have looked more closely... after starting to set up the aquarium I noticed the lid was cracked... then I noticed the top of the tank was also cracked. Annoyed, I went back to the store and closely inspected the 4 remaining boxes, and 2 of those tanks were also cracked in the same top corner, and the other boxes were opened by previous customers. after inspecting all of the parts I managed to put together a complete and unbroken set.

Now perhaps these cracks were due to mishandling, but that asidethe plastic is pretty thin and appears brittle (particularly the lid), and this will not take much trama before cracking. Keep this in mind if you plan on moving it around from time to time. I also inspected the 3 gallon cube by the same companythe lid was made of the same stuff but the tank itself seemed to be thicker plastic. That tank has white overhead LEDs instead of the colors and bubbles, and the shape is a cube (obviously) and not as tall or as narrow as this 'half moon' shape. It was a toss up, but I went with the half moon for the colors my daughter wanted and shape.

Everything in the box seemed to be fine upon first set up, although everything seems on the 'cheap' side. I agree with the other reviewer... the most annoying thing is the color lights/bubbler unit wants to float even after weighting with gravel/stones. It took some manuevering to stabilize that component. The good thing is that the bubbler/filter speeds are quite adjustable by dials that control the air coming from the air pump, which is good given that Bettas don't like a lot of water movement.

Once setup it looks pretty nice (and looks nicer if you have fish that will tolerate the bubbler on higher settings as this makes the tank more colorful). Hopefully it lasts.

This tank is amazing! My half moon Betta fish loves his mansion, and has been swimming all over his new crib for 3 weeks now. Plenty of space for him to swim. Extremely easy set up. The tank is a perfect half cylinder shape that makes your Betta fish easy to view from all angles. I highly recommend purchasing a tank heater because the tank is 3gallons the temperature would be best regulated by a heater. The bubbler also provides another toy for my fish to swim through he loves it. Of course the colors are BEAUTIFUL!! the subtle sound of the filter with the bubbler and the colors provides a very soothing environment and conversation piece. At night the lights in the tank project a flowing color changing image on my ceiling. This product is perfect. CAUTION! follow the instructions for water changes to a science, if you add too little or too much water when cleaning the tank the nitrogen cycle occurring already in the tank water will get messed up, causing your tank to become murky, and could rot your fish's fins. Follow the easy instructions and you should be fine though.

I purchased two of these aquariums for two betta fish my children own. I use only reverse osmosis water along with Nutrafin Betta Plus and Betta Bowl plus when out of the Nutrafin. This uses the Small filter cartridge.

I love that you can adjust the flow of the water coming out of the filter. You can also adjust the air bubbler. There are two valves for each of the tubes. I run both on low for the Betta's well being. I still need to get a mini heater, though. This kit is a great introductory kit for anyone wanting a betta fish.

The betta fish swim alot more in this 3 gallon aquarium than in the Marina .5 gallon tank. I added live plants and bright gravel. We also added a colorful marine paper background, purchased from a local pet store, to give a very beautiful view, instead of just looking straight through it.

The LED lights are beautiful to look at. At first, submerge, entirely, the LED saucer-type device completely under gravel and let the air bubbles blow at medium rate. After two hours, carefully remove the gravel to reveal the LED lights. Otherwise, the LED saucer-type device will just want to keep flying up to the surface. I guess it needs air to be blown into it for a few hours to get settled. I unplug the LED lights at night so the fish can sleep. The air bubbler is still plugged in. The filter has its' own AC adaptor as well. I'm hoping that with a 15-20% water change every week I will only need to change the filter every three weeks. With baby bettas use betta flake food; with large, adult bettas use betta pellets. The flow of the water from the filter does not throw either type of food violently all over the surface.

I really think that using reverse osmosis water (purchased for $1.50 [for 5 gallons] at a water kiosk close to the grocery store) contributes to the success of keeping the fish healthy, as well.

I purchased my aquariums at a local discount retailer for ten dollars less than on Amazon.

I purchased this tank for my little betta who was too big for his 1 gallon, non filtered tank. The first time I ordered the Tetra Half Moon Bubbler, the tank was cracked, but Amazon sent another within two days (so it's a good idea to inspect this as soon as you get it). It's really beautiful when it's all lit up, I just wish the 'bubbler' itself would stay in place! Piling gravel on top of it helps a little bit, but if you try to move the tank or lift the lid off, the 'bubbler' comes loose again and floats to the top. A suction cup on the bottom would've been a great idea, but alas, Tetra hasn't thought of that yet.

I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of this aquarium and filter set. I have had tanks all my life, and this one was a snap to set up. My one quibble with it is the colored light bubbler, however. Although the light it projects is really nice (and it makes the room look pretty at night), the design is a little awkward with the cord coming out of one side. As a result, the bubbler refuses to stay buried, no matter how much gravel I heap onto the edges. Otherwise, a very good product.
