It's okay. I have red and black gravel and thought that the color would add to the scheme of the tank. But it really doesn't. It's not a bad item, but it really looks fake and I hide it among other decorations to improve its appearance. It may come out if I see that it detracts from the overall look of the tank. Zoo Med Nano 511 External Canister Filter
I thought this filter was going to be overkill for my 10 gallon freshwater aquarium, but I was wrong!My PX-360 canister filter for my 10 gallon aquarium went out on me, so I needed something more reliable..
It lasted about 2 months, then the pump started loosing power, resulting in weak filtration and flow..
What I like most about this filter is that it flow regulators included, for both the IN and OUT lines to the tank and filter (aka: send and return).
I found myself running the IN line (filter) at max, and the OUT (return) and 3/4 power, because there was some bubbles in the return of the water,
possibly due to the CO2 diffuser in the mix..
The thing that wasn't so hot is the canister lid, which is supposed to open easily, but doesn't in my opinion.
Not a huge deal, it works great and I'm sure it would do well for a saltwater aquarium too!
Like the other reviewer I love how I can change the flow for the intake and output hoses. Because my tank is a tall 15 gallon I have them both set on high but for a smaller tank or a tank with more currentsensitive fish this feature is a must.
Lastly, like the 1st reviewer, I have noticed that the opening to fill the canister doesn't open easily. It creates a very tight suction so I have to unscrew it before I put the whole top back onto the canister, but it seals easily enough so that's not much of an annoyance. In fact I like that kids couldn't accidentally open it while the filter was running.

I'm giving it 4 stars only because I haven't had it very long and due to how relatively inexpensive it was I'm not sure of the life expectancy. That being said the filter works better than expected, I didn't realize until I got home with it that the instructions require that it be placed next to the tank with the shortest hose routing possible. I wanted to place it under my tank like most canister filters so I went ahead and gave it a try under the tank. So far so good, like with most pumps with the same type of impeller the longer vertically the pump has to push the water the worse the flow becomes due to the weight pushing back. The top of the filter is sitting between 8 and 10 inches from the bottom of the tank making my hose length about 2 to 2.5 ft. I've not had any problems, though you can tell a slight flow difference but not much, at least not enought to matter.The main reason I'm writing this is because everyone says the top is so hard to remove. This is a problem I've also had with my Fluval canister. After you release the latches you try to remove the lid by getting a fingernail under it or prying with a tool trying to overcome the friction of the o ring seal, which doesn't work too well. The instructions say release the clips of the latch and pull outward and the lid will just lift off, what they need to say is the latches act as a lever or more a pry bar and when you release the clips and give it just a little more outward pressure it will break the seal and force the lid up actually making it very easy to remove.

I received this product for a baby fat tailed gecko and it seemed fairly small so I measured it and the actual inside of the log is less than 1" high and wide and maybe 4" long. The height was measured to the top of the piece that sticks up on top and the overall length is about an inch shorter than it states. Do not purchase if you have an animal larger than an anole, small snake or crabs.

This is a great addition to my cichlid tank and the fish love it. It had really quick shipping and arrived in perfect condition.
Item arrived shattered into at least 20 pieces along the bottom of it. Item came wrapped in one layer of bubble wrap inside a box so small that the item's house roof made the top of the box protrude upwards. Item was not packaged with enough cushion-type packaging surrounding the breakable, plastic-type item, and the box was not big enough to prevent crushing from heavier items during shipment.
This item came directly from Petco, even though it was sold via the Amazon website.
I did receive a prompt and courteous refund.

Wasn't sure what to expect when buying this. My boyfriend and I moved and I wanted to start new and fresh with my 30 gallon tank fresh water aquarium. I put in my new gravel and then put in this product. Its like a black sand, not gravel which I wasn't sure about at first. I then put in the aquarium ornaments, water and the two packets that came with this, regulated the temp. and then we bought several new fish that evening and put them in. Well its been several weeks and all is going well! I didn't have to treat the water at all. The sand in it gives my black and blue gravel a nice shine to it and my fish seem to love it as well. They're more active then before I used this stuff. It came packaged well and received very quickly which I was happy with. To be honest I didn't even know what this stuff was just sounded easy, and it was. Would recommend and would buy again!

Love this product although there may not be any quality control associated with their production... 2 out of the 4 stones I ordered did not come in working order. Although the issue was an extremely quick fix. The nipple attachments on these are glued on with an epoxy. Unfortunately, if the epoxy is not applied perfectly it can prevent the airflow from the nipple to the stone. If this happens to you... don't freak out its an EASY FIX! All you have to do is find a drill bit that is slightly smaller than the inner diameter of the nipple and drill into the center of the stone for about a 1/4 inch past resistance and the stone will work perfectly.With a bit of pre-shipment product testing this product would be fine.... otherwise its an easy fix with a bit and a drill! Hope this helps and enjoy!

This air stone really surprised me. I hooked this up to my rena air pump for my 50 gallon tank and omg, the fine bubble output was amazing! A couple of weeks later my fairly new tank suffered a bacterial bloom. Bacterial blooms consume tremendous amounts of oxygen from the water but this little diffuser stone ended up being a life saver. While I did water change after water change in an effort to save my poor gasphing fish from sure death this stone (with air pump turned up full blast) put out enough bubbles to replace the oxygen and get my fish through the night. Heavy water circulation and this air stone did the trick not one fish lost. Cute shape and size is just right too. These air stones are the best I have ever found. They are expensive but in my opinion they are worth it. They are about the size of a quarter and have a good amount of weight to them. They stay in place in my fish tank and provide allot of bubbles. I have never had one clog up on me.

I have bought numerous prodects for Zilla the past year, however, these keep going out on me within 2-5 weeks of purchase. These products are very expensive and it seems Zilla is making these very cheaply now. This is happening with both the bulbs I buy from Amazon and local stores. They are nice because they are not bright like other night/black bulbs, but it doesn't seem to be worth the hassle anymore. AquaClear 20 Foam
These must do some good since every time I take it out, it is full of goop. I can usually do a rinse out for one time but the next time I replace it. I like buying the three pack since it is less expensive and more convenient to have a couple extra on hand when I'm doing a water change. This single pack doesn't seem worth it since the three pack runs about $5.I like the Aqua Clear filter overall and think that for a smaller filter, they've done a good job in creating the best environment for keeping your fish healthy and your tank clean.
For the price I expected more than a single foam filter per box. When a box or package is offered, please state what in contains in pcs or partsreplacement media for a good filter i would buy another and probably will in a few months. can also be used as a prefilter by cutting a hole in the sponge.

This background looks like real rock I got it actually for a small 5 gallon aquarium but haven't installed it yet it is probably only about 3/4 inch thick, which is one of the things I was concerned about it is made of very thick foam so it will need to be cut and wedged into the tank to hold into place other reviewers are right, I don't know how the two clips that come with it are supposed to hold it in place

I bought this set up from craigslist because Amazon did not have this set up at the time.... It was never used and I am very impressesed with the stand and the aquarium if you get it from Mr. Aqua, I have different sized tanks from 125, 72 bow, 36 bow, two tens, and this little master piece. I have had it for a year and havent began the process of hooking it all up yet due to how much money I am wanting to use setting it up... Lilly pipes are a must and basically only work for an eheim, ADA soil, the perfect hardscape to do a Japanese traditional layout with nothing but HC; baby tears. All that is easy to figure out but I have always had a problem finding the perfect lighting for it with how high to put it to get the right PAR and then the light being a clean and crisp to not take away from the tank. It completely drowns out my filter's sound which isn't really loud, but it does it to a point where you literally can't hear the filter unless you're a foot away.
Terrible unless you keep your aquarium in the basement or likewise isolated area.
Drove me insane.....only after 2 days too.

^^^ is amazing. Hardly any noise, super compact, blends in well.
I have a valve connected to control the airflow into the tank and when I increase the air amount the buzzing noise increases as well.. very disturbing.
The reviews said that this was a silent pump. I don't know if the noise is a result of a faulty product or a faulty design but this one is going back.
