so I ordered this just to control the amount of air being pumped into my fishbowl (if the pump was going full plast the poor little guy would be sent whriling around the bowl). It works pretty well. The knob sometimes slipps off if you turn it too far and there isnt' anything to anchor the tube to anything outside the bowl. There are several control valves and an equal number of splitters to divide the airflow to extra bowls.I'd reccomend this only if you have two fish bowls or just want to regulate the air flow to one bowl.

All Glass Aquarium AAG25930 Fluorescent Strip Light, 30-Inch
I was looking for an All Glass brand aquarium hood light, and in seeing it shown as an ALL GLASS co. hood, I ordered it from the Amazon Marketplace. Upon receiving my parcel, it was an Aqueon brand light. Aqueon has apparently taken over the All Glass company and is selling its inferior quality hoods as "All Glass brand hoods". I have used an All Glass for over 15 years on one of my tanks and it still works perfectly. (It's the kind with the push button switch/ballast). What you get now is the Aqueon brand hood light, which lasts approximately a year and then burns up your tube lights -and then fails completely. I've been through that before and wanted to avoid another wasted venture. This was my e-mail reply from AllPet after explaining the situation and requesting a refund: "Thank you for your order. All Glass is Aqueon. The company changed its name". What terrific customer service.Update 4/29/13: I just received an e-mail stating that my return request from AllPet has now been officially closed. It said, "Reason: your technical issue has been resolved". In other words, when a thief steals your money, then your technical issue has been resolved? So, in review of the whole fiasco, this is what is going on: "ALL GLASS" brand lights -which are amazingly still being shown in the photo and listing here -are no longer being manufactured. You will receive an inferior quality Aqueon light instead (made of totally different electrical components and not what you ordered). I'm disappointed to see Amazon continuing to run this listing as it is -because it's false. Enough said.
Update 7-8-13: I was browsing through my reviews and decided to check in here and see what's up. I noticed that there is unfortunately another customer who just threw his money away like I did. It isn't really Amazon's fault, because legally, Aqueon does own the All Glass company now, and can call these hoods "ALL GLASS" brand products. The catch here is that these hoods perform for about a year (if you're lucky) and then will burn up the light bulb, due to the inferior electronics inside -and then completely fail. So, in summary, these are disposable hood lights and you'll be shopping for another one soon enough. It's like ordering yourself a Porsche, and then when the transport truck arrives, surprise!,....you have just been sent a Yugo. Since Amazon is a super good company -and has saved me hundreds of dollars over the years -I'm gonna just swallow this down. I do feel that the product listing picture here should show the AQUEON box though, 'cause that's what you're getting. Man, do I miss the original ALL GLASS company -they were committed to making high quality aquarium accessories. OK, enough whining by me. Live and learn, right?

I bought what I thought was "All Glass" brand fluorescent light strip less than a year ago. What was delivered to me had the brand name Aqueon. Within a couple of months my light was burned out. I run my lights about 10 hours per day. Don't worry there is plenty of ambient light also within the room. I bought a full spectrum replacement from the local big box retailer which lasted me longer, but today the whole unit is burned out. I tested the bulb and the bulb is fine but the unit itself is now non-operable. What a waste of $!I've been told the Aqueon brand isn't all that great. This horrible fluorescent light fixture is proof in my book that I wasn't just been spoken down to by some aquarist snobs.
DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS.

I thought at first the product didn't work, however after using it as directed for a few weeks, the algae is very much disappearing and under control. I couldn't see it at first the first week or so, but now, it clearly works well and my freshwater fish do not seem at all to be affected. It's hard to dose individual drops iwth the spout provided, though, but if the stuff works I'll deal with the dosing of the water!

Aquatop PF40-UV Hang-On Filter with UV Sterilization
I was originally going to purchase a uv sterilizer only unit. That is, until I saw the AquaTop hob/uv sterilizer. At present AquaTop is the only company in the world that manufactures a line of hob/uv sterilizers.I purchased a PF25UV for one of my aquariums and it did such an excellent job, that I have since purchased a PF40UV and a PF15UV for two other planted aquariums.
These filters work quite well at keeping the water crystal clear. However, if you want biological filtration, you should keep an additional filter on your aquarium such as a canister.
Like some of the other people who commented here, my PF40UV came with the carbon bag open and carbon pieces scattered all over the box.
The chassis also had a scratch at the back of it, however, not deep enough to penetrate through the filter chassis.
These filters are not inexpensive for an hob. However, when one considers the price of a stand alone uv sterilizer of moderate quality, which also requires a power head, these filters are a bargain especially since the uv sterilizer feature isn't hype it really does work.
And the hob/uv sterilizer offers portability as well, so that you can move it from one of your aquariums to another.
Highly recommended.

I received this unit with a broken light bulb, broken filter(pieces were all over the place) and the housing had a large crack. This is definitely a low quality filter. Does a nice job as a regular filter, but the uv part is awesome cleared the algae in my tank in a day great buy needs to be set on the right angle or some of the water just pours out the intake portion hence 4 stars

I was a little skeptical before buying this background. It was hard for me to imagine spending this much money on a background for my turtle tank but I'm glad I did. I have a 75 gallon aquarium and I had to cut it to fit. I just used a large scissors (you could also use a utility knife) and it wasn't terribly hard. It is flexible enough for me to bend it to get it around the brace in the middle of the tank and it is not very thick (maybe one inch) so it doesn't take up too much space. It looks like it does in the picture (except mine seems a little darker) and the way its molded makes it look like a real boulder or rock face. The back side is black rubber or plastic but the front feels like sandpaper. My turtles love this because they can climb the wall but if you have delicate fish you may want to be careful that they aren't forced to rub up against it. I am using the clips that came with and they do work but you can also use silicone if you want it permanently in place. I have had this for 6 months now and it has stood up to me scrubbing it with a scrub brush to get the algae off. The instructions say that you are supposed to power wash it before you put it in the tank but I used a scrub brush in my tub and lots of black grit comes off at first. I haven't seen any since and it didn't affect my fish or water. I will be buying another one of these when I get a larger tank because it looks realistic and seems like it will last forever.

but cutting it was cumbersome. Once I figured out that a sharp utility knife was best to cut this thing then it wasn't too bad. (Tried a few things) Only thing I didn't like was that it came with PVC pipe cut into 1/2 inch circles as "clips". (LAME) and did not appreciate having to glue it onto my tank. If that was going to be the case then they should've made the back flat for gluing purposes. Too many ridges in back made it difficult to figure out which would touch the aquarium and which wouldn't. All in all, after all the hard work it ended up looking lovely in my 75g aquarium.One thing though.....if you're going to glue it, make sure you get your dimensions right and you glue ALL edges. Don't want you to end up with fish creeping into any missed nooks.

I have a pond that is about 5 feet wide and 10 feet long, and averages 4 feet deep. It is in the hot, direct Florida sun all day long. Despite a good level of both surface and bottom plants, string algae was a big problem. Also, was cleaning the skimmer filter as often as daily. Tried another product, which didn't help at all. Was then told about Algaefix. Started using it as directed, and our problem improved dramatically within 1-2 weeks. Since the first month, I have uses a maintenance does of just under 1/2 cup each week (much less than weekly in the winter), and it keeps the string algae well under control. i don't know if i got a defective one, but all the colors of each degree are light up brightly or sometimes they're all dim. so its hard for me to determine the temp. i had another one before from the 99c store and that one worked better than this
I have two of these on both ends (each side) of my 90 gallon aquarium near the live sand bed. This helps me get a good read on the temperature at the lowest level of the tank and see if there is any temperature difference between the two ends. It is very unobtrusive and easy to read in good lighting. I have noticed that on one side of the tank I have a harder time gauging the temperature because it's mostly in shadow. The colors aren't terribly bright for the temperatures and as such it can be a bit finicky.
I ran a few tests with these against the floating variety (see review here: Floating Thermometer Economy) and found these superior at determining temperature both for their speed and accuracy. To sum up I raised the water temperature in an empty quarantine tank and these register much faster. Obviously your secondary worry with an outside of the tank temperature strip is going to be whether or not the room temperature affects the readings. If it does, this is negligible, I cranked my heat up to bring the house to 85 F and the strip never showed a difference from the steady 75 F that I keep it at.
For a cheap solution or secondary system to check your temperature I would suggest these, they aren't the best, they aren't the worst, but they are reliable.

I have this thermometer on my old, smaller tank for my betta, and I love it. Unfortunately, it cannot be removed and placed on another aquarium and still work. Because of this, I went out and bought a SmartTemp Thermometer, at a pet store closer to my house than PETCO, when I got a new larger aquarium. I miss my PETCO thermometer! While it can sometimes be difficult to read (sometimes a lighting problem, other times you have to rub it and let it readjust to show the temperature), I have still found it to be very reliable, especially for the price! I will be returning my Fusion Smart Temp Thermometer and replacing it with either another one of these, or trying a ESU Coralife Digital Thermometer item #232. Current USA AquaChef Aquarium Automatic Fish Feeder
Works but not that well. Set it up to feed a 33 gallon long marine aquarium for a week while I was on vacation. I do like the way the drum rotates completely all the way around at once to dump food, some feeders use a slow turning of a drum to time the addition of food. Setup of the timer is just more complex than it should be. I used the included Velcro to mount the feeder to the top of a wood canopy where the flakes were to fall into a section I cut out for the hang-on-tank protein skimmer to fit in. Upon pulling the drum off to add flakes the plastic backing of the drum pulled out and bent(not good)although I was able to get it almost back into position when I put the drum back on. Also, when I returned the feeder had leaned over off the Velcro so that it was out of optimal position and the flakes weren't falling as they should. My fish lived but I wouldn't trust it again.EDIT: I gave this product another try when going on vacation for two weeks this October 2007. When set up properly and filled properly this feeder works with out fail. I secured the feeder to a strip of scrap wood screwed into the tank hood so that it had to stay in place. I also filled the drum through the discharge hole instead of pulling the drum off. My fish were still fat and happy on my return. Can't be beat for the price. 5 Stars. My wife and I are big fish lovers and also like to travel, weather permitting. We have three aquariums in our home. A 30 gal, a 20 gal, and a 10 gal fry tank. I work 5 days a week and come weekends we are out of here. Purchased a $40.00 auto feeder from a local Pet supply store and it worked for 20 minutes and quit. They replaced it and the same thing happened so we got our money back and purchased the AquaChef to feed the 30 gallon tank. Set it up and let it feed the fish in the 30 gallon tank for several days to see how it worked. Its hell to program if you don't read the instructions. If you go thru them once step by step and it rather simple. My 12 year old granddaughter programmed it in about 5 minutes the first time but did not understand military time so had it feeding at the wrong time but working very well. I helped her with the time setting and it began feeding flawlessly. With the exception of the fry tank, they all will have one of these on it. Don't let the instructions scare you, my granddaughter didn't. Going to purchase several more by my aquariums and my daughters. I love it !!!UPDATE:
Mounting the device with the clamping device is rather simple. The C clamp will attach to the front of all aquariums. Do this: place the device close to a lightbulb for 10 minutes to get the plastic more pliable. Not close enough to melt it however. Now remove the rubber suction cup from the inside of the clamp. This should be put away for future use. Use the non-hook side of the velcroe which is just a soft buffer for the glass. Place it where you want the feeder. Now slide the clamp down till it hits the inside of the plastic and gently open the clamp a small amount. It will spring back, no problem. Do not overdue the spreading of the clamp and do it slowely. Now the inside protion will go directly against the glass and the screw can be turned in against the velcroe. Tight and secure. Works extremely well.

I bought the Aquachef before going away on a vacation, as most people do. Some things I first noticed; programming is a bit ambiguous, but I figured it out; the device feels like it's going to break when you pull the drum off to fill it (there's no release, you just pull it), and the supply door is just a bent plastic fold, not really a door (mine is already starting to break), and the "clamp" was too narrow to get over either of my tank rims (they are regular plastic frames), I had to cut off the screw clamp and rely on the velcro to hold it on, it leans at an angle with the velcro barely holding it in place.I have had it for about nine months now, it periodically loses all power, you have to bang it go get the display to come back on, all programming gets lost. If you disturb the machine (for instance when trying to pull the drum off) it loses power. Today, I noticed that the feeding latch was in the wrong position, after hitting manual feed a few times, I saw that the drum only goes around 180 degrees, not 360, so the feeding latch only lets food out every other cycle. I changed the batteries, re-programmed it, and it still only goes half way around.
Basically, it's junk. When I first noticed it losing power, I bought another brand as a back-up and I have both running. That feeder isn't much higher quality. I would love to find a high quality, reliable feeder.

I purchased this feeder so my fish would not go hungry while I was on vacation. The time and the feedings are set using a 24h clock, so it's pretty hard to mess up. I did a trial run and everything seemed to be working fine. When I got back from vacation, my fish were not looking so hot. I fed them and they ate voraciously which got me wondering if the feeder was actually working. So I set my iphone alarm for 10:00 am and watched the feeder to see if it was dispensing food. Nothing. Then I set it for 11:00 am, and watched. Still nothing. So somewhere during the time I was gone, this feeder just quit working. Batteries are fine, clock is set right and so is the feeding time.Maybe it will work for you, but it didn't work for me.

I bought this ornament for my beta vase and it works perfectly for my application. My beta loves it! He's always swimming through the little "tentacles", laying on it, and hiding behind it. The color is slightly different than the photo the product is brighter in person and has some bright greenish tones to it. Not a big deal for me, though. Happy with the product overall. Well worth the money.

However, bowls this small are very unhealthy for Betta fish and you HAVE to change the water at least once a week or it will die. Mine lasted about... two months, maybe, then suddenly got sick and died even though I'd been changing his water a lot. The water gets smelly and nasty fast even with just one betta. After my fish died I sold this product to someone at my school for a lot less than original price, and I don't plan on getting this product again. If you don't mind if your fish dies after awhile of changing the water a lot go ahead and get it, but I'm going to spend a little more money on a 5 gallon with a filter instead of this for sure.

Ok so I've been keeping crickets for forever for my leopard gecko. I usually buy them once a week or so in sets of 10-15. They get a capful of this crap and another capful of some powder food. Honestly, this stuff is just terrible compared to that yellow liquid cricket stuff (you know the one). First off, it doesn't come with a scooper like the yellow. Second, it is made of these terrible little beads that get everywhere and try out within 2-3 days. Finally, the whole bottle has changed from green to blue (after about a month stored indoors in the shade). Also, the bottle is so tall that scooping (I use the scooper from the yellow gel stuff) is very inconvenient. I have to get my whole hand in there to get the stuff out. Since I dropped like 8 bucks on this thing I'm gonna power through, but I already have my yellow gel ready to go once this stuff is finally exhausted.Moral of the story, it works, but not well. Get the yellow cubes (not the orange cubes, the yellow ones).

I bought this light because it fit my proflex model 3 sump that I am using as a refugium perfectly. Unfortunately, the first light only lasted about a week. I exchanged it for a second one, which only lasted about 10 days. I would NOT recommend this product. Heed the advice of myself and other reviews. Look for another alternative, or take your chances. That being said, Amazon's WONDERFUL service resulted in a speedy replacement, and ultimately a speedy response and FULL refund on the second return.
