DrTim's Aquatics One & Only Live Nitrifying Bacteria for Cycling Aquaria

DrTim's Aquatics One & Only Live Nitrifying Bacteria for Cycling Aquaria, FreshWater 4-OunceI tried Dr Tim's Nitrifying Bacteria after seeing a recommendation from Mr SaltwaterTank that you could cycle a tank more quickly with this product. I set up a new 60 gallon tank with 20 gallon sump. I dumped in Dr Tim's and two clown fish the same day. I did bring several pounds of live rock across from another established tank to help with the transition. I am several months in now and never had a problem or any spikes. The fish are doing great and I didn't have to wait weeks to get fish in the tank as old wisdom has trained everyone to believe to be necessary. Kudo's for this product.

I had read lots of reviews that these products don't work but I decided to try it out and it worked! I put it in during the first 5 days of cycling, it took a few days for the high nitrite levels to go down but then they leveled off and the ammonia and nitrite was processing in a day. Shaved off weeks from my cycling and I was able to put fish in much faster!

Started 20 gal Fish Only, Bare Bottom Tank with this product. The fish were being moved from an existing tank. I made up my salt water to match the fishes existing environment, used an un-seeded canister filter and simply added "One and Only". Tank has been up and running fro 6 weeks now. The fish never missed a beat. This is the first time, for me, in 30+ years of fish-keeping,that an additive performed exactly as claimed. I was a little concerned that I was not utilizing any substrate in the tank, which would normally be a good medium for beneficial bacteria to live, but I did fine with the canister filter providing a place for the bacteria. I highly recommend this product.

My son and I set up a 75 gallon marine aquarium and had problems from the get go. Fish dying, ammonia through the roof, etc. We put in one bottle about a year ago. No trace of ammonia, nitrates, nitrites, etc. since. BUT the real story...haven't lost ONE fish.

It isn't a cure-all OR an alternative to regular tank maintence, but it is certainly a safe, effective, and INEXPENSIVE tank treatment.

And on a side note, we lost power for 6 days after Hurricane Sandy. Didn't lose a single fish. I can't say for certain that Dr. Tim's product had anything to do with that, but I am pretty sure that if I didn't have a strong, healthy tank it would have been a different story.

After loosing far too many fish (belonging to my grandchildren, but living at Nanny's house) I began looking online for a line of products with great customer reviews. I found Dr. Tim's. I spent quite a bit for the following products for my 10 gal. fresh water aquarium One and Only, Waste Away, Clear Up, Refresh. After once again loosing two gorgeous large butterfly gold fish to ich, I started over with two new Carandas and these products. I was able to put the fish in on the same day using Nestle's purified water which is all I use. The water stayed clear and clean and I've had very little upkeep. I use these products weekly, rinse the filter in between new filters and I've had a gorgeous tank with two of the most beautiful fish I've ever seen one red head with white body and one very bright dark gold. Yes, they are a bit expensive, but when you consider the cost of new fish and replacing everything each time you have to start over Dr. Tim's is well worth the money. They also have great customer support.

Don't bother with the cheaper products it's just not worth it in the long run. If you can afford it, use Dr. Tim's.

Gravity UV Light - 8W

Gravity UV Light - 8WProduct was received and when installed was defective. Notified company and they made excuses that I could have dropped it,misstored it(how do you do that?) and bulb was past warranty....I noticed that other reviews were responded to with excuses...I DO NOT recommend Seacorals based on their reviews. The item was $12 so it was a matter of principle: they sent a defective bulb and that is final!! Amazon was great in handling the problem....should have been handled by this company!! Now watch the excuses.....

The posting appeared that I was buying the complete filter box but it was just the light. I felt very deceived when this order arrived and they should only post the picture of the light if that is all being

Vibran-Sea Flowering Marsh Wood Silk-Style Aquarium Plant, Large 13-14 tall, Burnt Orange

Vibran-Sea Flowering Marsh Wood Silk-Style Aquarium Plant, Large 13-14 tall, Burnt OrangeThis item is as pretty as it looks in the picture, it seems larger than I imagined which is fine for it is going in a 25+ gallon tank, there are lots of places for the fish to hide and it will allow for room for them to swim among the leaves. I wouldn't recommend this product for tanks smaller that 25 gal. it will be too big.

These are very beautiful and act very natural in the water. The weighted base and quality construction make it a must buy for fake plants.

The colors are very vibrant and beautiful but this is the most fake plant I've ever seen. It's skimpy enough to clearly be able to see all the plastic joints of each set of leaves. The size of the 'leaves' is large so it's not a great plant for a smaller tank. I bought three different types of these specific 'Vibran Sea' plants and I've pulled them all from my tank, a 60 gallon. IMHO unless you're looking for the real fake plant look in your tank, these are not a good choice!

Jungle TB640W Tank Buddies Correct pH, 8-Tablet

Jungle TB640W Tank Buddies Correct pH, 8-TabletThis stuff's label doesn't say much about what it does. Does it raise the ph, or lower the ph? Is it just baking soda or calcium carbonate in a fizz tab? It seems to have added a little bit of alkalinity (buffering capacity) to my tank and pushed the acidity from 6.9 to 6.8 further away from center!.

One tablet in a fresh tank will cloud the water for days. A tablet in an estableshed tank will cloud the water if the ph is not too far off from where this stuff wants it to be. There is no patent information available on it, and there is no more information on the product website than on the product packaging. I would rather stick to products like ph+ and phto resolve specific issues with ph than to have a mystery tablet that advertizes like it handles things either way.

I suppose if you did have a big ph problem, that this stuff probably could help. But I wouldn't include it in regular maintenance routine unless your tap water comes out with the acidity of a soft drink.

I wish that companies who market 'simple fix' products like this to the general public would not disrespect us so much as to hide how the product works... Marketing on the front of the pagkage & explanation on the back. All we get here is marketing & auto-magic hype.

Tried these for lowering the pH in my fresh water aquarium, simply put, doesn't work. Tested water directly from faucet and pH was around 7.6 and after adding 2 tablets to a 20 gal aquarium, pH is near 8!!! These tablets are useless, stick with something you can read a label on the packaging that describes contents & remedies. Directions do say you may need to soften very hard water first, don't know if this would've made a difference or not!? I'll be buying something else from now on.

These helped lower the PH in my aquarium. What I liked about them, is you could add the number of tablets required which disintegrated quickly. They were easier to handle than messy measuring spoons.

I will not claim that this product works for everyone (in fact if you look at all the reviews, you will see some that claim this PH corrector does not work) but it did work for me. The PH in my 20 gallon tank used to be on the low side around 5.2 to 5.6. I placed 2 tablets (1 tablet per 10 gallons) inside a cup filled with water from my auarium and let sit for a few minutes while it dissolves (I don't recommend placing it directly in the tank). I poured the water into my tank and after a couple hours or so I tested again and the PH was between 6.5 and 7.0 which is much better than where it was. For me the effects lasted for quite a while not sure how long but definitely more than a couple days or so. I'd say maybe a month? Anyway this product worked for me and if your PH is a little high or low I'd recommend trying these. I'm not sure how well this stuff would work if your PH is off by a lot though. But I thought an increase from 5.2 to 6.5 to 6.8 was pretty good! I plan on buying these again.

API Algaefix Algae Control

API Algaefix Algae Control, 8-OunceAfter using this product, right away I noticed a reaction with my Goldfish. I have (had) two and the one was affected more then the other. Did a water change and they seemed better. A few weeks later I used it again and then I lost the one fish. For the last few days, even after 2 partial water changes my lone goldfish is VERY stressed and going crazy. Today I'm doing another 2/3 water change and hoping for the best...

Google "Algaefix and goldfish" and read some of the reviews you find there. Some folks think this product should be banned, and I agree wholeheartedly!

The first time I used it, I used it according to directions. I counted out 14 drops for my 10 gallon tank. It cleared within a couple of hours, and then the next day, the algae bloom was back, so I waited three days, like the directions said, and put in another 14 drops, and the next morning, my fish were all lying on the bottom of the tank. When they didn't respond to even food by noon, I got them out of the tank and put them into our quarantine tank until my husband could come home and completely empty and clean everything in the 10-gallon tank. I would not use this again. I hope my fish will be okay. After several hours, they seem to be coming around. If they die, I will write back with an update not to use this product.

I'll keep this short and sweet I followed the directions and used this 3 times -no luck.... the water in my waterfall with constant aeration is still green. I think there are better products on the market. I hope this helps.

I picked this stuff up after going through 3 algae blooms in my 10-gallon tank (including one really bad one, couldn't see two inches past it, and the other two being much more tame).

Now, I've read MANY mixed reviews on this product before making my purchase, and I have one thing to say. This is basically Weed-B-Gone for aquatic environments. It's made to kill algae. It's safe for fish IF USED RESPONSIBLY.

We've treated two tanks with this stuff: a 60 gallon, and 10 gallon. No fish died.

The 60 gallon: heavily infested with algae, specifically the brown hair algae. Applied the recommended dose (1 tsp per 50 gallons, we did a full dose). In the tank live two Convict Ciclids, two loaches, two kissing gourami, one minnow, and one otocinclus catfish. The tank itself is very well established bacteria wise, and has an appropriate canister filter going with four sponges and bacteria media. The lights on it are low-light, with one low-light grower. NONE of the fish were affected in any way shape or form.

The 10 gallon: houses my one Oranda goldfish, along with 7-8 trumpet snails. Previously had ghost shrimp in it, but took them out prior to treatment, then ended up dying from separate causes (put three in a bowl, two died, the rest were killed by the stress of my goldfish chasing them and trying to eat them, I don't plan on getting any more, lol). As I stated above, went through three algae blooms/cycles before I bought this, and has an AquaClear 30gal. filter going with two sponges and bacteria media. The light on this one is a 96wat four tube grow light. The light penetrates a solid inch into the gravel, it's intense.

WHEN I DOSED MY 10 GALLON: bottle says 1ml/10 gallons. From what I'VE been personally taught from my boyfriend (his 60 gallon has been running for 10+ years with absolutely no problems), the more gravel that is in the tank, less water; resulting in a smaller dose. I put HALF of 1 ML in the tank. My goldfish is UNAFFECTED, and my snails are as happy as could be cruising around. After repeated dosages, and even one dose being a full dose, my fish is fine. And now after about two weeks, I've seen NO new algae growth, AT ALL. I'm going to continue treating the tank, as it is planted and the algae has taken a liking to the plants, but as far as I can say, nothing has perished in my tank using this product, other than algae.

With more heavily infested tanks: from the 60 gallon, it's petrifying to watch. When you treat it, the water will cloud up almost IMMEDIATELY. And it is and was scary to see it happen so fast. It was back to normal clarity overnight.

Further research into this also relieved that the chemical diminishes in 24 hours, being completely gone by 48 hours. Example: I haven't changed the water in my 10 gallon since I've started using it. By the amount of chemical I've put in, I'm positive my fish would've been long gone by now. But he's still in perfect shape and health.

Everything being said: use this with CAUTION! This is not a magical algae fix (well, was for us....), this is made to kill algae, and I'm sure with inappropriate usage, will kill a lot more than algae, including what is printed on the label. If you have any doubts about getting this product, find something else. And if you get it, use your brain. It's easy to over-dose, and some things just don't work with some people. In my case, I began with a half dose, because my tank is one of the fairly smaller ones, and I wanted to see just how my fish reacted to it. I gave it a day, then repeated the half dose, waited, continued with a full dose over the course of a week and a half. It's not the products fault, as it's working BEAUTIFULLY for our own tanks and MANY others.

I never use chemicals in my tanks but this time I decided to try because I developed an algae problem in one of my tanks that I could not get under control after adding t5ho lighting (Even after reducing light duration). Since I am averse to unnecessary chemicals entering my tanks I only gave a half dose after a water change yesterday. When I awoke this morning I had a lovely tank of dead fish. There is nothing else that would have contributed to the entire tank being wiped out but this hideous product ( My ammonia, nitrate and nitrite levels are fine). I wrote API about it and am awaiting a response. STAY AWAY from this and use any other method of destroying algae that does not consist of using this product (Or any other chemical product for that matter). API/MARS should be ashamed to have this on the market.

After having this in my aquarium for about 3 months, the paint is coming off a lot of the gravel, and I see white spots all around my tank. I also noticed that the top of my tank appeared to have what I thought was black mold, but turned out to be paint from the rocks. I rinsed and turned each bag's contents repeatedly for 15 minutes before putting them into the aquarium which should have been sufficient.

The only reason I'd give this gravel 1 star is because of it's size and the attempted color. It's larger and uneven, which I was wanting. Otherwise, I am very disappointed. The base stone is white so it shows through the pretty frosted black coating, a lot. There are so many broken stones and partially coated that I am not achieving the look I want. Also, you have to rinse and rinse then rinse some more. Tons of tiny particals will float to the top and the first rinse or two, the water is yellow tinged.

All and all, for the money I wish I had paid a few dollars more and got my gravel elsewhere. I recommend you do.

I have a 10 gallon freshwater aquarium and this bag of gravel fits perfectly. It's more gray than blackwhich is good. The bottom seems shadowey but not too dark. My fish seem more comfortable near the bottom of the tank. I think maybe the dark colors give them a sense of protection.

This bag is VERY big. It's probably one of the biggest you could purchase at a pet store. So it's perfect for larger aquariums. They reccommend two pounds for every one gallon in an aquarium. So this bag could easily work for 2 five gallon aquariums or 1 ten gallon aquarium.

The color is classy and very pretty. It's very fish-safe. Since adding it to my tank my fish don't seem to have changed in health at all. If anything they seem calmer. Altogether it's made my aquarium look very classy. I highly reccommend this bag of gravel for anyone looking for affordable rocks for their freshwater aquarium.

The description is a bit misleading because it sounds like you can set a temperature of 80F, and this unit will keep your tank in the 78-82 range. But this is just a heater with a rheostat, so it only pushes out heat, and does not measure the environment it is in. So if if the heat goes out in your house, the tank temperature will go down in tandem with the environmental temperature this unit will not crank up to compensate. I do not think it is a deficiency, since that's what you'd expect in this price range, but it can be misleading to someone putting together their first tank.

That minor complaint aside, the unit has been performing admirably. My previous heater was a 300W, this allows much faster correction of my 120G tank and 30G sump. Note that it comes with suction cups to hold onto the side of the tank, and those NEVER hold indefinitely. I would recommend building your own hanger system.

Bottom line this is a good general choice.

Is a powerful heater, but like others have said, have to have mine set all the way up. Have it on a saltwater controller, and it still shuts down before keeping the water at 79 plus degrees. Not dependable, especially if you intend to use it on it's own. I'm going to remove/by-pass the thermostat and just let my Apex controller run it.

Aquarium Tank, Glass, 10 Gal

Aquarium Tank, Glass, 10 GalBe forewarned this product doesn't come with the lid as shown. The same picture used here is used for the lid as well. They are different items, which need to be ordered separately. I received the lid. Not the aquarium. When I went back to check the order it turns out the lid was all I ordered. Talk about annoying.

The tank arrived in a huge box at least three times the size of the tank I opened it found a layer of padding and another box so I opened that one and I found the tank suspended by 8 foam corner pieces. It was the best packaging I have seen for a fish tank. They also sell 20 and 29 gallon fish tanks so if I ever need another tank I know who I'm going to get it from.

Petco Newport 20 Gallon Wooden Tank Stand

Petco Newport 20 Gallon Wooden Tank StandI gave it 5 stars because it serves it purpose very well. It looks great , sturdy, and it is easy to clean. My tank fits perfectly, (I have a 10 gallon fish tank) so there is room on the side to sit my air pump and fish food. I have several items on the second shelf and the bottom holds some books.

I think that anyone who purchases this tank stand would be very pleased.

For this price it is alright. Assembly was easy, but it's a little wobbly. Once you put the fish tank on and fill that up it is a little bit sturdier, but still has some movement. (not enough to where you think the tank will topple over, just a tiny sway if you push on it) For this price I'd say it is a winner!

Vibran-Sea Narrow Eel Grass Silk-Style Aquarium Plant, Large 13-14 tall, Green

Vibran-Sea Narrow Eel Grass Silk-Style Aquarium Plant, Large 13-14 tall, GreenI ordered this plant, along with an assortment of other Vibran-Sea plants through Amazon.com. All the items arrived looking beautiful -except this one. These are not packaged well -the leaves are completely exposed, and the plant I received looked as if it had been kicked along a warehouse floor. I returned it to Amazon, and the replacement I got was no better. I decided it was not worth my time or effort to go through another return, so I used a lighter to clean up all the frayed edges and used an iron on the lowest setting to straighten out the creases. The plant is passable now, but not worth the headache. I only give this two stars because the hope that someone may receive one undamaged. It would probably then be pretty nice -but don't count on it.

Plant is okay, it does sway in the water and it is silk, much better than a plastic plant, but the leaves do not stand up well, most of the leaves tend to fall down and lay on the floor of tank, some will stand and sway, but the others do not, price is good, but leaves could of been made a little stronger. They are still nice to have in tank.

Petco Brooklyn 10 Gallon Metal Tank StandAlthough this stand is currently being advertised as $6 off the original price, it is actually priced exactly the same on Petco. Just a little heads up in case you thought you were getting a better deal. At least it's not worse!

Finding an affordable, simple stand for my 10 gallon proved to be more trouble than I anticipated. I kind of accepted that I may be getting a crappy metal stand that I'd put up with until I found a stand I wanted to save up for. The quality of the stand is much higher than I anticipated. No bent or dented metal and everything fit together easily. It is very simple, but it's not ugly by any means and it's easy to fit storage containers for my aquarium equipment below it. It was also incredibly easy to assemble, took less than five minutes. It also arrived three days earlier than anticipated, which is a major plus.

This brand name bulb was worthless. I have their filter and their pump but their bulb is unreliable.

I expected to get at least 1 full season out of this bulb, The one that I got with my filter last year lasted 5 months, I was at least counting on 6 months for this one. What a waste. A cheap non-brand one might last a little longer.

I saw pictures of this eel grass posted by another reviewer and I instantly just fell in love!

I order it in purple and in all green color as well and combined they look phenomenal in my tank hands down almost as though they are real.

The purple is a very nice and exotic violet almost and the green on it is light so it looks as though it is a salt water plant.

I am very pleased with the quality as well although I would have liked to see the base a little heavier so that it can hold it self better under the gravel instead of having to place rocks or a lot of gravel on it so it can stay down.

The different shades also do not limit you to what other plants you can put in the tank because it almost has all the shades in it so blending is a breeze again.

I definitely recommend it and would buy it again.
