I bought this to up the flow to my sump. It has an automatic thermostat that turns off when it gets too hot, then back on when it cools down. In 80 degree water that's very 10 minutes. So, it either has a bad self cooling design or the thermostat is super sensitive. I don't need a filter that turns itself off every 10 mins for 5 mins at a time. I'm 50/50 on whether to return it or use the feature as a wave maker in the tank. I prefer a high current in my freshwater 125, so this would put a nice kick up every 10 minutes then relax.Read Best Reviews of Catalina Aquarium CA 3000 Aquarium Pump 1000 GPH Here

Aquarius AQ8624 Aquarium Fish Net with 8" x 6" Net & 24" Stainless Steel Handle
although I prefer moving fish by hand, this is a case where protection is needed for both myself and my finned friend. Red Devil Cichlids are quite aggressive and although this fellow has an enchanting personality his teeth definitely do not.
With a long handle of stainless steel the net is perfect for moving large fish without having to worry about it's bending. I find the netting to be above standard and the seams all strong and bonded. Fish with rough and sharp fins can slice through any net over time and this one I know is no exception.
For my needs it's simply perfect.
The build quality is great, the length perfect and the size of the net pouch is exactly what I need. A great deal on an equally terrific item. The net is priced well under retail plus if you have a Prime membership you get free two day shipping to boot!

Coralife Energy Savers ACLAF9550 Trap-Em Bristle Worm Trap
I sat it up right after coming back from the store and after 5 minutes I got the first one around 5''...after 30 minutes the big one 10'' tried to get to the bite but couldn't fit into the hole :) but it was enough to pull him out...that's a big relief that this trap actually worked even in day time...
Thanks "Coralife"..you saved the day for me :)
If you have bristle worm I'm sure it'll help you to at least reducing the number of these guys..if you wanna keep them that's fine but they're growing really fast and to really big size...I'd rather stay with my hermit crabs and snails doing my clean-up job...
Good Luck.I was a bit skeptical when I first was researching these bristle worm traps, but I quickly changed my mind. My tank was being taken over by bristle worms. They were coming out at all times of the day and night. They were everywhere. We tried getting a banded shrimp which ate a few but not even close to the amount we needed it too. Just using this trap less than 10 times, I have caught more than 100 worms. The directions tell you to leave the trap in all night, but I found that the worms just find their way out after an hour or so. I put the trap in with the bait, and watch the worms travel into the tube. After about 15 minutes I take the tube out and move it to a different spot in the tank. It works like a charm!
I would recommend this bristle worm trap to anyone!

The crabs pull the ends off and the bristle worms escape. If you have time to sit and watch it, and empty it as soon as you see a worm or two in it, then it might be ok. But I have hundreds of worms to deal with. This is just not that effective.Read Best Reviews of Coralife Energy Savers ACLAF9550 Trap-Em Bristle Worm Trap Here
So I bought the trap-em, trap to get rid of a few pesky bristleworms that hitch hiked on my live rock. There's 3 big monsters in my tank, or should I say, was. After reading some forums online, they all typically recommend that you use a homemade concoction over one of these, but, I tried my hand at both. Within the first 24 hours, I had caught one of the major worms inside the trap, however, I think that his friends caught onto my doings and haven't gone into it yet. I figure I'll wait a few more weeks before I try my hand again, hopefully I'll snag the remaining two. If you want to spend the 10-15 bucks on this, its not a bad investment.

Gulfstream Tropical AGU00035A Mag-Float Acrylic Aquarium Cleaner, Small
You can leave these on/in the tank all the time, but I have 2 inquisitive little kids who like to play with magnets, so in between cleanings, I take the magnets off and store them on a shelf. These magnets are VERY strong, which is great because you can vigorously scrub with them and they won't lose contact with each other -and if they do, they float, so there's no need to reach down into the tank to retrieve the fallen piece! -but if you put them together outside of the tank, they will want to snap together ferociously, and woe is you if your finger pads happen to be in the way. So keep them away from kids!
Bottom line: If you need to get a magnetic cleaner for your fish tank, the Mag Float is the way to go because the magnets are strong, well-made, they float, and come in a nice compact size. I expect that I will not need to replace mine for as long as I have my tank, which makes it well worth the price. I made sure that I ordered the acrylic one. I used it once, and it put really fine surface scratches in my Aqueon Mini-Bow acrylic tank.
The magnet function works well. If I had a glass tank, I'd recommend the glass version. But I don't think this is a good algae brush for an acrylic tank.

Product seems good in theory. When I used it for a small portion of my tank to test it out, it did clean the area, but left lots of scratches on it. Can't use it. Now I have a $10 paper weight.Read Best Reviews of Gulfstream Tropical AGU00035A Mag-Float Acrylic Aquarium Cleaner, Small Here
I use my Mag Float 30 (small) for my 28-gallon acrylic hexagon reef aquarium. Acrylic hexagons are probably some of the hardest types of aquariums to clean especially if you try to use any of the long-handle, plastic scrubbers due to limited, top-clearance access. I still use my plastic-handle scrubber periodically, but the Mag Float helps me reach the areas that I cannot reach. I really like how the Mag float magnet floats to the top when separtated. Like the other reviewer stated, I cannot scrub the curved edges with the Mag Float. Despite what other reviewers have stated I have not encountered any scratches on my acrylic aquarium due to the use of the Mag Float. Works fine with me!Want Gulfstream Tropical AGU00035A Mag-Float Acrylic Aquarium Cleaner, Small Discount?
This is recomended for a 30g acrylic aquarium. I use it in my 30g acrylic aquarium. The magnet is too weak to hold the scraper together, the glue that holds to scrapers to the handles are pouring over the side, and it doesnt scrape very well needing 5-10 passes to remove even a small ammt of algaePondmaster 02920 20-Watt Ultra-Violet-Light Pond Water Clarifier

It is very powerful, doesn't make much noise, and my fish love it! (especially rubberlip plecos)
I'm currently using it to drive my homemade water polisher. Here's how to create one yourself using this powerhead:
1. Take a small container such as a plastic yogurt container (keep the lid!), rubbermaid container, etc.. and cut a hole in the top lid so that the end of the powerhead intake will fit inside snugly.
2.Fill the container with polyester batting (can be found in the fabric section of stores). A huge bag costs $3 or less and will last forever!
3. Close the lid and stick the end of the powerhead intake through.
4. Turn it on and you are good to go! It makes your water crystal clear, and it continues to create lots of turbulence. Serves as a dual purpose now! Just change out the polyester batting after it gets really dirty.

I haven't had them long and I make aquarium set ups for customers and friends I used to use Penguinor Aquaclear and they were good. Maxi-Jet is under estimated because no one talks about how awesome
they are. The prices are 40% less then almost every other powerhead, and push more water per hr at
that price so it a good trade, cant comment on how long they last only been using them now for 3
months but I nor my friends have had problems. Just member to use an extra filter on the intake or
clean the impeller every 2 months at min. and yeah awesome product not scam in quality just note
wait for Amazon to "fullfill" there stock and you get cheap or free shipping to save even more money
I rated its a 4 because I don't know the life of them yet and the power of them is rated a 295gph but
at 1ft head, I use them for returns in my sump with 5ft travel and they still run at 245gph and I still
use Ehiem pumps (expensive but the one I got has ran strong for 5yr without any cleaning because I have a
prefilter in the intake so it never gets clogged) so I say EHIEM OR MAXI-Jet are the best pumps so
if you need a good filtration system run two of these and you wont be sorry.
Also f.y.i an okay filtration system should cycle you water 5-7x the aquarium's size, 10gal 50gph
but best ratio I run and water look n smell good you want to drink if you had to is 15-20x, 10gal
at 200gph, you cant go wrong with an extremely high gph filtration system just be safe it dont
leak bc in a slipt second your water will be in the floor and your turtle will be saying WTH!!
Also word for advice use 100ml of carbon per month per 30gal of water being filter, I use Marine-
Land products best filter media money can buy(at cheap prices too)!! Sorry this was long but someone
might find it helpful, so hopefully someone does!! Happy aquarium hobby to all you aquatic persons!!

Moves a whole lot of water and should not be considered for small tanks under 55gal. as splashing may result. A good power head for larger under-gravel filters or foam block bacteriological filtering. Parts are readily available, impeller etc.. One caveat, it appears it is too easy to break off the tabs that secure the impeller assembly rendering the entire device trash.Update after 9 months of use............
The tabs securing the impeller assembly to the head have begun to spread causing the jet direction to change while in use, very frustrating. One one occasion the unit came apart in the tank. I am already looking to find a more durable replacement after just 9 months of use.

Ordered this for my 120 fish only tank, trying to save a few bucks, and while it shipped very quickly, that's about where the positives end. The item came in a plain white box with a small instructions pamphlet that was clearly written by someone for whom English is not a native tongue. The few instructions that came with the item were incredibly unclear and unhelpful. Then once I got to assembling the skimmer, I realized just how flimsy it was. The collection cup is held in place by wishes and hopes and would go flying off as soon as you turned this thing on and it started foaming over. That's another thing as well, the amount of foam and micro bubbles was ungodly, and no matter how much you adjusted the multiple valves, it was either not skimming at all, or blowing over with foam. Not to mention that the design of this thing is extremely ill thought out. It takes up an enormous amount of space inside the tank, and the bracket to hang it is not wide enough for my tank ( did I mention this was advertised to work for up to 180 gallon tanks?). What possible uses this item can have, I haven't a clue. I've started the return process and purchased a seaclone 150 which compared to this thing is a dream come true and that's saying something, because the seaclone is a budget skimmer.Vibran-Sea Narrow Eel Grass Silk-Style Aquarium Plant, Extra-Large 18-19 tall, Green

I haven't had a decent clear tank of water since I first set up my tank. It's a little 5.5 Gallon. The only time it was clear was when I first filled it. Since then... it's been various levels of cloudiness. I filled it with Well water. I added the recommended conditioners. It being a new tank, I added "seed" fish (Fathead Minnows). All but one of the fish died. I had a very bad case of New Tank Syndrome. I decided to start over. I cleaned the heck out of everything. This time I used Spring water. I added the conditioners. It started out crystal clear... but after a couple of days, clouded up again. I used a water clarifier... a floculant type... it did zip... a waste of money. The water tested OK... but remained cloudy. I decided to be patient. I did a lot of research... joined forums... I followed all the advice I could find about setting up a new tank... and getting the water right biologically. I added this, that, and the other thing... as recommended. Nothing Worked. I used 3 other water treatment products that all made fantastic claims about creating a crystal clear, biologically balanced, environment in my aquarium.
2 1/2 months into it with my cloudy tank, and just one Fathead Minnow left... he was from the first batch... apparently a hardy little guy. Just for fun, I added a Crayfish that I found in a nearby creek (tons of fun, extremely entertaining, super hardy and easy to care for... and gets along great with my Fathead Minnow). He's doing awesome, but eats vegetables, algea wafers, frozen shrimp, etc... anything/everything you throw in the tank. The water was always cloudy... and I thought, with the salad bar my Crayfish was eating... the water would never clear up.
I wandered into Petco to browse around. I found the "Acurel F" and read the label. I thought, Ok, I'll bite. I bought the "Accurel F", but didn't get my hopes up. I followed the directions. I added 2 drops per gallon (the minimum recommended amount). About 2 hours later I checked it. It was very clear, a significant difference... but I thought not quite a 100%. I added 5 more drops. The recommendations were to start with 2-4 drops so I was still in the range. Within 4 hours, as stated on the package... Crystal Clear Water. Beautiful!
My recommendation... start with the lowest dose... and work your way up as necessary. I've been maintaining the clarity in my 5.5 Gal. tank with just 2 drops a day.
"Accurel F" Awesome Product.Acurel F is the best thing i have ever used in my tank.the water was so cloudy from the sun hitting the tank i even got a H.O.T. Magnum Canister Filter and helped alot but still couldnt stop it... and after likr 5 hours is was all over and never seen water so clean any place i have ever seen tanks..must get it i have tryed alot of other brands and didnt do a thing skip all of them and get Acurel FI bought some from my local Petco for about 4.99 last week. I have used almost 1/2 of the bottle on my 90 gallon tank in the past week and a half and my tank has finally cleared up over the weeks time.
