The item came with a few dings and dents, not a big deal. I really wished it fit my 125 gallon tank. It's good on the length, but its just a bit short on the width. 1/8" short to be exact. If you are serious about your livestock and reef-keeping, this test kit is not good. It has a nice plastic case, and all looked great when I opened it up. I was excited to use it but colors are WAY off and near impossible to read for anything over 0ppm of the color chart comparisons on several of the tests (including NH3 & NO3). NH3 is almost worthless even for 0ppm. NO3 will help you know you have 0 or slightly more, but anything over that good luck in determining what your value actually is. Phosphates color chart is okay, but is low resolution (lowest comparison above 0ppm is .225 which is already in your danger zone). Some of the test results are not consistent (like CA I can test and get 500, turn around and a second test will give me 580. An old API I have more consistently will read like 480). I do not advise hagen kits to anyone and will not ever waste my money on them again. This Kit is ideal for any Aquarium lover, especially Salt Water enthusiast. It has all the basic test Kits you will need to water analysis. If you priced out buying each test from one of the other manufacturers you would spend easily $170 or more. Then you would not have a neat place to keep them all. Though the quantities of each test is probably less than what you would get from others. The only other test I had to buy for my Reef Aquarium is Iodide, Magnesium, Copper. I don't think there is anything else I need that this kit doesn't have. The Price is just Great at $81. Hope you find this helpful. Good luck with your aquarium!
I always use seasonal fish food. My pond fish are healthy and regularly reproduce. I think the size of the food is easier for them to consume than the sticks, especially for the little ones.

I bought this for my 3 tanks. I measured out how much was needed for the size of the tank. I put it loosely in a knee high pantyhose and tied a knot. I put it in all the tanks, and when I took a reading of the water the ammonia levels did not change. You also have to regenerate the chips every 5 days in salt which is an extra step I don't know if it helps.Like the title reads: They are a good quality brand. However, they're are some down falls. I found a little too much power in the bottom of the carton. Also, I would love to have pellets! They make carbon pellets.. So why not Ammo Pellets!?!!?

When I initially purchased this tank, I was extremely pleased. The top is very secure, yet easy to remove. The built-in lock mount and breakout channels in the lid for cords were wonderful benefits. I set the tank up with a 50W ceramic heat emitter aimed at one of the short sides, using a digital thermostat to reach a substrate temperature of about 92F. I would periodically check with my thermometer gun, but the glass never got above 95F. The heater did not touch the glass.

This tank was great! I was originally going to just buy a 20 gallon aquarium without the lid and make my own at Petco, but this one was on sale for only $30.00. I decided to buy it, and it is great! The lid is very secure, it has a satisfying click lock when you close it. There are even little openings on the back to where you can hang a water bottle holder from. My gerbils are happily running around in theior enclosure, and I have not had a problem yet! I don't know how it is for reptiles, but on the big cardboard box it comes in, it says NOT to use as aquariums for fish. It took a bit long to get shipped but it is worth the wait! This is a perfect cage and my geckos are loving it. Will be buying again.
I'm not sure what the deal is but when I used this the first time, it scratched the heck out of my tank. The scratches are tiny but definitely disrupts the finish on the tank. It does do a good job of cleaning the walls though. I think if I put some cheese cloth or something between the outside piece and the tank it would help with the scratches.

I've sunk a small fortune in my Biorb, but now it looks like crap because I used this magnet. I was really careful,too, but somehow I picked up a tiny fragment of the lava rock that comes with the Biorb, and it etched deep grooves inside the tank. These gauges cannot be repaired. I'm sick about this. If you feel the need to use this algae cleaner, perhaps place a Biorb cleaning cloth between the magnet and the acrylic tank.Want Algae Magnet Cleaner Discount?
I was not very impressed with this algae cleaner. It looks great, almost a piece of artwork, but the edges don't really do a decent job of scraping the algae off the sides. The edging needs to be sharper to work.
I have it on my desk at work, my fish seem to like their home, and my co-workers like it as well. The only feature(s) I do not use are the nature sounds. This is the same product over on another site, but for considerably less.

I bought 20 lbs for my new 29-gallon tank. At that shallow depth, I had to anchor a couple of artificial plants with small stones at their base but that's okay as that just adds to the decor. The sand is super soft and and I only had to rinse it once before adding. Directions with my Whisper filter says not to use with sand but it hasn't been a problem. When cleaning, I rotate the vacuum tube a couple of inches above the sand so I scoop up only the tiniest bit. The black against the green plants, the blue background, and my gold comet make a beautiful contrast. Doesn't seem to bother the fish although when he first went into the tank, I saw him spit some out. I would definitely recommend this over gravel.
I have three Elite heaters a 25 watt in my 2.5 gallon betta tank, and a 50 watt in both my 5and 10-gallon tanks. All three heaters have worked perfectly. It takes a little while to get them adjusted just right, but once you've got them set they keep the temperature perfectly steady. I live in Iowa, and nighttime temperatures here are below freezing right now, with one room not very well heated. The 50W Elite in my 10-gallon tank handles the fluctuations with no problem, and my bettas are healthy and happy. I definitely recommend this one!

The Hagen Elite heater was purchased partially based on a fair review from Amazon(4 stars with 9 reviews). I followed the instructions and set the heater at 79F. The final temperature was +88F and was recorded with two different thermometers. That is not acceptable and the product was returned. I will give the Hydor Theo a try. Sorry Hagen.

I like this piece but when my tank got algae in it, it turned a light yellow color instead of staying bright white.
This magnet works. Unlike scrub sponges, your arm stays dry. The surface of the magnet that goes inside the aquarium is rough enough to actually take the algae off the glass. Unlike another brand of algae magnet that I've used, it floats, so you don't have to tie a string to it. If you haven't used magnets before, keep in mind that there will be places in your aquarium that a magnet may not be able to reach or you may have to move things around to get there (i.e. around the filter and heater). If your aquarium's close to the wall, getting to the back of the aqarium gets tricky too. A yardstick helps. Whatever you do, please don't buy this product for an acrylic aquarium. It's meant only for glass like it says in the title. The manufacturer makes one for acrylic. I can't review that one since I've never had acrylic, but make sure you're getting the right kind for your tank.

This magnet is better suited for glass aquariums that get a lot of algae on the surface of the glass. For day-to-day or average use, the magnet bristles are too harsh and will gladly host any particles floating in the water that will scratch your glass. So be careful, they way to use it is to rinse both surfaces of the cleaner (outside and inside) to make sure there aren't any particles stuck. Then, as you are doing a water change, use a sponge to wipe the inside of the aquarium making sure you eliminate any particles or sand stuck to the glass. Then use the magnet (make sure you pair it only once). If you follow this process you will reduce the chances that you will scratch the glass. I am giving it two stars because for me all these steps are an inconvenience.
I really love the size of the container for the price. It is much cheaper than my LFS. I absolutely love the cap because it has measurements in it and I think that every liquid product should come with a measuring cup on the cap as well. It is a must now!

I use Aqua Plus every time I do water changes in my aquarium. I have used this product for many, many years with 100% success.
