its not "hardwood," which is a little disappointing, it is made of that compressed fiber board with a laminent coating to look like hardwood, but it still looks very good (I only complain because for the price, I would expect hardwood).
This is advertised as an Aqueon Coralife 05704, but the box contained a TFC membrane branded as CSM with the part number RE1812-60. It was in a bag with a statement that CSM is manufactured by Woongjim Chemical. The item shipped doesn't even match the photo on Amazon. This one has a wide strip of white tape wrapped just below the top gasket, and the bottom o-rings are a different color. Amazon's price for the Aqueon Coralife brand is about the same as everyone else's. But everywhere I checked, the CSM RE1812-60 sells for half of Amazon's price, leading me to believe that the CSM is a cheap substitute.

I love these heaters. We now have a bunch of them to keep horses' water ice-free. We have other types of heaters and even heated buckets but these are my favorite in terms of value for money and fuss free maintenance. They are absolutely no additional work easy to install and easy to take out to clean the water tanks. Plus, they come with a free floater ring if you want to convert yours to a floating heater (wouldn't work with my mouthy geldings) and a shepherd's-hook type of attachment to help securing the cord to the side of the tank. Wow! I cannot believe the performance of this mighty 250W de-icer. Right after I purchased it, we had 3 weeks of below freezing weather so it got a work-out. The K&H is in a 150 gallon tank (it is only rated for 30 gal in our climate). Occasionally in the morning there is some ice on the edges, but plenty of ice free water for my horses. I bought this to seal a waterfall that I had rebuilt. It was applied over concrete and had I used pond sealing foam to fill in some of the cracks. It goes on dark brown, but dries black.
Product was alright for a little while then it quit working an the cord wasn't long enough at all I had to use a extension cord to use it which is very unsafe for that type of product. Over all I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

The vendor was fast to ship and this product is literally exact to how it appears in the photo. For those of you having a hard time figuring out if this will fit in you tank, consider the size of the opening at the top of the tank before purchase. Though I love having this in my library, the Fluvall fishtank is not a tank it will find itself capable of getting in. Still, very neato product.

I bought this product in April and it's early September. I noticed last week one of the bulbs was not working. Bought the same AquaticLife Bulbs and it still didn't work. We tried them in another fixture and WOW!!! They worked. The light went out in just 6 months. AquaticLife said they have a 12 month warranty. I got ahold of them and this warranty was I pay the shipping there and back plus parts. This came up to what the light was brand new. In conclusion this is a bad choice. You get what you pay for and my livestock and me paid the price. A product that does not last 6 months is not safe for a costly reef setup and it could cause a huge loss of money as it did me. Received as promised from Amazon. Installed filter to my 1000 gallon fish pond. Has been installed and running for 5 days now and already I can see the difference. My prior filter was to small, over the years my fish population has grown. So a new filter was in order. Tetra Pond Bio-Active Pressure Filter is working perfectly. On installation, I dug a hole and used the 20 gallon bucket (from a big box home store for around $10) and sat the filter in the bucket. I used 11/2" PVC pipe as my backwash with a union to make it easy to disconnect for winter storage. After looking at many filters I decided on this one to go along with the Tetra Pond Debris-Handling Pump DHP3600.
Great tank for an office or bedroom. Looks very stylish and the filtration system is silent and discreet. There's even a place to hide a water heater. The only thing that needs improvement is the included light. Don't get me wrong, it illuminates the tank evenly and adequately, but the way it's mounted causes the thing to sag on one end and it's not bright enough to grow most plants. Because of this I replaced the included lamp with a Finnex Ray 2 and it fits the tank perfectly!

The all in one design and stylish look are what made me notice this tank. I had fish when I was young, and its a hobby I have been out of for many years. I bought the smaller version of this as a gift for a friend (2 gallon), putting a betta and 2 dwarf frogs in it along with some decorations. I like this tank. A lot. The dimensions are interesting and attractive, without being impractical. It's an expensive 5 gallon tank, but a standard 5 1/2 with a glass canopy, filter, and LED light wouldn't be all that much cheaper to put together. The hidden pump and sponge filter block are a big plus, as is the ability to hide a heater in the same compartment. The plastic lid is fine, a bit more trouble than a hinged canopy but nothing major. The narrow footprint makes it possible to situate in places a tank this size wouldn't normally fit. If it's a close call however take note, the tank is indeed less than 7 inches wide (the stated measurement) but the plastic frame around the bottom is almost 7 1/2 inches, so it needs to sit on something wide enough to support the frame.
