Penn Plax Baby Hide-Out Breading Grass for Aquarium

Penn Plax Baby Hide-Out Breading Grass for AquariumI have these for all three of my tanks. You can place them in the grass or turn them upside down and they float on the top of the water.

I have mine floating. Not only do my fish babies find their way into them for protection but it gives cover to the rest of the fish in the tank. When they float and babies are in them, it is easier to catch the babies and/or feed them. I have a tank just for babies so I love how easy it is to put my net under the floating grass and lift the grass to get the babies quickly.

It works ok, except apparently I have a very good hunter in my betta......he has managed to eat all of my babies anyway, it would probably work much better if I took him out of the tank.

Thank goodness Amazon offers Prime Accounts! These arrived within hours before my first mama guppy delivered and the babies are snug and safe in these little hide-aways! I fear they would not have lived at all without these as I had no good hiding spots small enough to keep the adult fishes out.

They work, excellent all around.

I like this product because ever since I got this I haven't had to flush baby platies and guppys down the toilet.I have crazy amounts of fish breeding in my 80 gallon tropical tank.

I have a 55 gallon freshwater aquarium w/ a variety of fish (lots of different types of tetras, 2 gourami, 1 hybrid blood-red parrot, pleco, rainbow shark, 1 gold rainbow and 1 betta. Needless to say, I need lots of hiding options/nooks/crannies for my fish to feel safe and be entertained (they love darting in/out of places). I actually have 1 of these on each side of the tank in the back corner tied off so as not to float all over the tank AND I have them upside down. My betta LOVES swimming either just below OR actually thru these if I remove, he swims around looking for them. :)
