150 Watt Titanium Heater 30 to 60 gallon aquariums
I had this heated for approx 3 weeks now and I woke up this morning to find my whole tank dead. The water was about 100 degrees!!!!!!!!!!! This heater was set at 78 degrees and it just malfunctioned and never stopped heating my tank!!! I am soooo dissapointed, I loved all my fish. Do not buy this heater! Now I have to buy a new heater and all new fish!

Aqueon 06092 Water Flow Control Valve Assembly
This flow valve seems to be of a very good quality, except for the plastic faucet adapter piece (for indoor faucets), which will not withstand frequent use. This is not a problem for me, since I connect the flow valve to a standard outdoor/garden faucet. If you will need the adapter, do yourself a favor and get a brass adapter at your local hardware store (couple of bucks).The flow valve connects itself to a faucet and uses the power of the water flow to produce a suction effect. It comes ready for you to connect your own flexible vinyl tubing (bring the flow valve to your local hardware store to make sure that you buy the correct diameter tubing). Connect your gravel filter to the other end of the vinyl tube and you have made a complete water changer. A "ball" valve just before the gravel filter needed for you to control suction and water flow (you will also use this device to supply water back to your aquarium). Complete water changers from Aqueon or Python run for $35 $45 depending on the length of the tubing.
Unlike the Python flow valve, where you have to rotate the bottom part to switch between draining and filling modes, the Aqueon flow valve has a lever (switch) that you need to move. I like the mechanism of the Aqueon flow valve better. Let's see which one lasts longer.
Unscrewing the bottom (drainage) piece reveals another connector for vinyl tubing. I suppose that it is possible to connect a draining tube for those like me that do not want to leave dirty fish water on the garage floor. The problem is that the pressure cap needed to complete this setting is missing. I called Aqueon and the technical support person that took my call could not confirm if it was possible to connect the drain tube and told me that the cap needed (identical to the one provided for the tube that goes to the gravel filter and to the aquarium) is not sold separately. That means that I would have to buy another complete flow valve, just for the cap, to complete my setting! --If someone has a better idea that can help me ideal my setting, please let me know.

Even though this is a replacement piece, it is a replacement piece for a reason. This part will break often so long as it is made of plastic and has threads. I have been very gentle when screwing the adapter onto my faucet, yet last week when I got it out to change the water, the adapter had cracked into two pieces. I contacted Aqueon customer service via their website, and asked if they had a warranty to replace the adapter. They promptly mailed me a new adapter for free. The water changer idea and principle is wonderful. However, due to poor quality in the materials, this piece continually breaks. No matter how carefully I handle it, I end up having to buy a new one several times a year. I would be willing to pay more for better quality and less breakage. I was having PH crash problems in my fish tank when we moved to a town with a different tap water supply...for some reason I couldn't get my goldfish water to maintain a PH above 6.4!!! My poor babies :( I tried every chemical known to man, and it's a miracle my fish survived. I finally found a website online that suggested coral as a PH buffer. I put about 1/4 c in a hanging mesh bag into the water and keep it there 24/7...and now the PH is 7.4. I have a 14.5 gallon tank. I heard that mixing the coral straight into the substrate causes nitrate issues down the road when it breaks down, which is why I keep it in a bag. I can't support whether that is true, but my method has worked just fine so far, and I've replaced it once in the last year. Attractive. It sank in my dirted aquarium within an hour, and took more than two days to sink in my normal one. I can't tell if it's doing any good. I think I'll get a real one, next time.Update: I just bought another one. How fast they sink depends on the amount of organic matter in your aquarium, I think. They really do clear the water up almost instantly! There are some problems they can't fix they're not a miracle solution but the difference, for me, in both my aquariums, has been worth noticing.

Zoo Med ReptiTherm® Under Tank Heater, Medium
I've been keeping reptiles for nearly 20 years and have used a variety of different products, including various brands & sizes of undertank heat pads. In my opinion, the heat pads made by Zoo Med are some of the best (I only say this because there are a few other brands I have not tried personally). In the very least, they blow the ones made by Exo-Terra out of the water.Before I go on, I want to emphasize that if you use these heat pads on the bottom of any caging, you MUST raise the bottom level of the enclosure to prevent it from pinching the cord of the pad. Most heat pads in general come with little rubber "lifters" to do this for glass tanks, and the instructions also go over this. If you do not follow this step, the pinching WILL cause the heat pad to malfunction, either getting too hot or not at all. In addition to the pinching, excess heat will build up underneath the enclosure, causing the heated area to get dangerously hot as well. And obviously, use a thermostat or rheostat.
I have never had an issue with one of these heat pads not getting hot enough or too hot when using them on a glass tank, and have yet to use a Rheostat with on a glass tank [I wager its because I always lift up the caging to prevent the pinching & overheating issue mentioned in the previous paragraph].
One thing I like about these heat pads is that they are relatively easy to remove and re-position, even on another enclosure if need be. I know the manufacturer advises against this, but if you peel it off slow and carefully, there shouldn't be an issue (especially if you are using correctly in the first place* see second paragraph). I have used the same heat pads for years on multiple enclosures as needed, of course, using a rheostat.
Also, the manufacturer recommends only using these pads on glass tanks. However, I have pushed the envelope and used them on plastic tubs and other non-glass caging. I have never had any major warping or overheating because I use a rheostat. I'm not suggesting anyone attempt this; I'm only saying I have good success using these pads on non-glass caging using the ZooMed rheostat.
I genuinely feel that if one follows the directions well, especially regarding raising the bottom of the enclosure and using a thermostat of some kind (both of which the instructions advise), they will not have issues with this product.
Recap...if you just let the bottom of the cage rest on & pinch the cord of the heat pad, you WILL have problems. If you try using this heat pad to heat an aquatic tank filled with water, you WILL have problems. If you choose not to use a thermostat, definitely check the basking area routinely with a thermometer to make sure the heat pad is staying at the optimal temperature.
Another thing is that for most caging, it is recommended that the heat pad should only occupy 25-30% of the bottom surface area of the enclosure. Remember to use this advice when choosing the right size for your reptile and caging. And if the heat pad is the right size for your cage, but your reptile is too large to warm itself on it, then its time to upgrade the caging!
The one thing that I really don't like is that it can NOT be removed without destroying it. I recently bought a new tank and thus need to buy a new heat pad.
Highly recommended for the longevity factor, but make sure you research even just a smidgen on how to set up a terrarium or you will kill your animal.
**Side note: In order to save all the spiders out there also, do not use this as a bottom mat if you have spiders. This will need to be mounted on the side of the tank for arachnids as they have a common tendency to hide underground if it starts getting to warm, and you will end up cooking it.

Ok, when trying to decide which size to order, I had to wonder what was up as it looked to me the large listed as 9.7 x 10.6, and the medium 15.1 x 8.0. This didn't make sense.So, I ordered the medium ... and as it turns out ... the PACKAGE is 15 x 8, but the pad itself is 11 3/4 inches by 8 inches.

although as it heats, it tends to come loose from the bottom.
Adding a little heat resistant tape to the edges seems to help keep it in place.

I bought this product and it arrived shortly after order date of Feb.26th. It's May 17th and it's not working!A reptile heater is suppose to heat under tank. But this lasted less than three months.
Imagine paying the price for this, that lasted less than three months, so as to keep your reptile heated for a full year. Tank heater price X 4 purchases!
And me? I recycled the package a week after purchase thinking this would last as long as the first Zoo Med under tank heater I bought over 8 years ago and that's just starting to lose it's full heating capacity. Which is why I bought this as a back up and eventual replacement.
Now I'm out the money and bound to spend more. But it sure won't be on a Zoo Med undertank heater. The old style was superior. But this one isn't even good enough for the trash.

*Edit* Having reviewed this many one star comments concerning the personal experience others have had with this product it reminds me of a defective processor that was installed in factory in my first computer, a Gateway. Turns out, and this after three years of pursuing satisfaction, the company knew they had obtained defective processors but installed them in Gateway PC towers anyway. Ultimately the company VP sent me a new tower in exchange for my defective one.
I'm thinking this is what's happening here with this sellers under tank Zoo Med heaters. They could have purchased seconds, or defective heaters that Zoo Med wouldn't sell directly from their on line site and that is why they're so much cheaper than Zoo Med on line or any local retailers. Rather than toss them in the rubbish Zoo Med made something of a profit chucking them off on the unsuspecting sellers and the sellers thought they got a good deal. Meanwhile they all made some sort of profit and we the retail buyer are screwed!
Pathetic! Zoo Med's reputation should be better than this either way.

I LOVED my t-rex for the first 3 years I had it. I had even repainted it after the paint had worn down.Then suddenly my fish started dying. I replaced the few that died but all of those died as well! I thought it was the water quality so I did a 75% water change with distilled water and tried again with 2 more fish. Those died too. I thought that maybe the paint had started to leach some how into the water so I took the T-Rex out to re-seal the paint. I discovered that the pin holding on the head had metal in it and it had been rusting!
I did a 50% water change after taking him out and got a few new fish and everyone is happy and still alive.
Its a great decoration for a year or 2 but it needs to be taken out after a while.

I have been through quite a few heaters in my time, maybe a dozen. I have had expensive and cheap heaters.I have been using this for a month now and it's great and keeps consistent temps. The digital readout is accurate as compared to my old fashioned in tank glass thermometer.
The thermostat takes a minute or two to learn probably have to use the manual to at least double check if you are using the one button properly like I had to (I hate having to read manuals). So setting it up is a little clunky initially, but overall not too bad.
The heather itself was slim for a 300 watt heater, and aluminum was the only choice for me as I have a 8" Red Severum that could break a glass one. It comes with a suction cup, but my tank has issues with suction cups. I was happy to see that with a little wedging, the heater set nicely on the bottom of the tank where I need it, with no suction cups.
The wiring is a bit clunky as there is one wire for the thermometer and one for the heater. The thermometer probe must be away from the heater for an accurate temp and so the thermostat can adjust properly. It's a necessary evil for these type of heaters with the external thermostat.
These are hard to find for a good price. I was not familiar with this brand, and with little feedback as to quality I was hesitant. This heater is running strong and accurate, all I need is for it to last and I am a happy camper.
4 stars because the wiring and thermostat setup/adjustment could be a bit easier.
Would I buy it again? You bet, but ask me in a year as well.

I really liked this heater at first. It has worked very well in my 60 gallon tank. Just a couple months ago, the problem is that the built in thermostat is reading my water temperature wrong, I would assume this is wrong rather than my mercury thermometer. Huge huge huge mat of this stuff! I have a 29gal and a 10 and still cant find enough places to put this stuff! It is super healthy, looks great and my danios and harlequins love breeding in it! It comes in a cocofiber mat, that is a little hard to get the roots out of if you want to totally replant it, but you can also just put the mat in and bury it. When I ordered sand, I was expecting there to be no water or moisture involved. But behold a mid-size bag full of sand and water. It is a little misleading because it does state 20 pounds (lbs), however I feel part of it is the water. I let the sand dry out for a week and then used the sand to fill up my sandbags for photography. If I had kids, this sound would be fun to play with and you can basically make sand castle or whatever you imagination may bring. I have purchased 7 of these. I have 2 tanks. A 30 gallon and a 75 gallon.Have three of these lights in the 30 gallon, and they work, incredibly. The changing colors really make for a fabulous effect, especially upon red and blue gravel. I have three synthetic plants, a log, a house w/ waterwheel that bubbles and a upward-stretching driftwood. Each light, shines down upon each of those, then I have Gem Decor stones, scattered about the tank, which catch the light and make for an impressive effect as well.
Then, I have four of these lights in the 75 gallon. They're.. not quite as impressive in the larger tank. They fit perfectly inside the little volcanoes and are a much cheaper alternative to buying the more expensive volcano bubblers.
Now for the bad news. I've had to return, 2 of them so far. One, failed to work, right out of the package. The other stopped working, a day after putting it in one of the tanks. Both of those, the supplier, replaced at no cost to me. A service that was quite quick.
Unfortunately, yet two others have issues after 4 months. One, only alternates 2 of the 3 colors, and the other simply doesn't work at all anymore. I do not use these, on a constant basis. They are turned off, during the day, and only used during the night, so they run for maybe 8-12 hours out of a day.
So, save for those issues, I think they're a splendid product. But, I think the product needs a bit more refinement, so that they last longer and don't fault out.

I got this for my little beta fish because I have another huge fish tank that has a light and every night when it would get dark he would sit on the bottom of his bowl and stare over at the other tank that was all lit up and during the day he would lye on the bottom of bowl staring out the window. He came from Wal-mart so he was always in the light 24-7 and then I got him and he had to spend a few nights in the dark but now that I have this wonderful light he is having a blast cursing around his bowl in the light. It's so nice to see him swimming around and not just lying on the bottom of the bowl. He's so much happier now and the light is very nice it gently changes colors between red, blue, and green and looks very nice shining into the bowl. I have several of these lights which change colors and you can put them anywhere you want. I have put them in some of my decorations and or on the tanks walls.
